Mine has done the opposite. When I got the car around Dec 02 I had the 2nd pop occassionally and figured I'd take care of it in the spring or summer sometime. After about 6 months it disappeared and hasn't happend in over a year. Can anyone with the tech smarts explain how this could be? Should I make it known to the dealer even though it can't be replicated right now in the hopes that if it comes back after warranty they will make good?

"Poping out of second"

Evan,

Could the "poping" you're talking about have anything to do with the recent Vatican City elections? The new guy IS German I heard. I read that he has a direct email account so you might want to contact him.
BTW, I'm really beginning to think that these 996-based TT's are a piece of crap, you think?

Well I finally have the dreaded my car is poping outta second gear problem... All of a sudden happened to me one day, which I thought nothing of untill it happened 2 more times in the next couple of days.... Car is going to Braman for some EXCELENT service early next week to see whats going on. As expected I was told if it is reproduced the would most likely install a BRAND NEW tranny as Porsche won't let them crack open 996TT tranny's... I guess thats kinda cool to get a new tranny, but a major PITA... O well I know Braman will take care of me as always, they are the BEST (esp. Dave E. and Bucky!!)!!
Evan
PS- For whoever else has had this happen, did you get a new tranny or what??
hey evan it happened in my old 02 996 C2, what is important is that they need to have this happened while a technician is test driving your car, if it does happen they will replace your tranny for sure...

Steve: Yea all Porsche's are junk, esp those new 997 S's

02bare: That is what they said, if they can replicate it, its no problem, however if they can't, it makes things much tougher...

The S has been "on vessel" for 6 days now. Should be into port in the next couple days. The sales guy said once it hits port it'll be about 5-6 more days to get to the dealer. I expect to see it in the next week or so. I'm taking a week vacation when it gets here and am now trying to figure out where I want to drive it. Florida maybe? Yahoo!

If its still ON VSL I would say you have a good 2 weeks untill you see it!! 3-4 more days of that, then 3-4 days of being at port, then 7 days to the dealer, then 2 days to PDI it....
Come on down though!! I will meet ya half way
