Hydraulic wing rams took a dump on my engine and now I'm having MAF/Idle issues
Not the first and probably won't be the last person to have problems with their stock wing system (imagine that ) but with the added issue of my idle problem I'm hoping they are somehow connected.
I've read up on on how to clean the MAF sensor, but my question is what to use to clean up all the oil that seems to have gotten everywhere. I know soap and water will most likely work, but does anyone have any idea if there is anything better to use? or something to use after I use soap and water? Any suggestions? I'm probably going to get started first thing in them morning and hope it helps my idle issue. |
not sure what area your using it on but if it's not painted i use carb cleaner make any metal surface look like new. it may not damage paint but have never tried it there

A citrus type cleaner like P21S total auto wash might be preferable to a standard detergent based soap. It comes in a spray bottle so you can spray all the affected areas, let it set for a while, then gently hose it off. Might want to put tin foil or some other covering over the alternator. The detailing forum on 6-Speed has several threads on engine cleaning.

Believe it or not i used citrus lysol household cleaner/degreaser and it worked beautifully....and smells nice too!!
Only problems is that cleaning my MAF sensor didn't fix my high idle  ! |
What are you idling at?
|
Anywhere from 1200 to 1500 rpm. It goes down to just a hair over 1000rpm with the a/c on.

What were you idling at before?
Have you spoken with Todd at Proto? Perhaps you could send him some logs to check |
lol, damn these cars.
My wing is currently broken and my MAF is on its way out, as well. My scam-of-a-warranty-company (DirectBuy) won't cover the wing. First they said it was wear and tear, now they're claiming it's "cosmetic." *sigh* Anyways, I cleaned my MAF and it helped for about 24 hrs, then things were right back to how they were. I ordered a $90 MAF (correct part number) from ebay and have to return it, because evidently it's a knock-off, as the connector won't fully seat. I ordered a $250 MAF from ebay, and that's on its way, so hopefully I don't get ripped off again. We shall see. |

After driving the car yeasterday and today, i guess everything settled in and it's back to idling normally between 900 and 100 rpm. Bad news, I have to give the borrowed sensor back and spend the $250 for a new one.....unless Markski gives me a deal on his Blow Thru system!!:D |
