18x9 et40 wheel, any rubbing with 235/40/18 Nitto NT01?
Any of you guys know if there would be any rubbing when running a CCW 18x9 ET40 front wheel with a Nitto NT01 track 235/40/18 tire? (I've got -2.0 deg camber in the front and caster is per spec at 8.0 and car is at GT2 ride height).
I currently run 19x8.5 ET 42 front wheels with 235/35/19 PS2 tires with no issues. I know 235/40/18 is a GT2 size but the GT2 wheel is 8.5 wide as opposed to 9. Also GT2 has different fender liners. I wouldn't think 1/2" width would make much difference since it only stretches the bead of the tire an extra 1/4" per side but it would not change the tread width.

the 18x9 is a very popular setup.
I've been doing some research on the offset, as I'm about to get a set too, but the offsets I've seen are around +50 or so.
Based on that +40 seems very aggressive, but I'll follow this thread to see other opinions.

I've just measured the current set up on a RUF Rturbo which has a 19x8.5 ET56 wheel utilizing a 7mm spacer effectively making it an ET 49. In addition, the car has 7mm of shims added to the GT3 adjustable lower control arm thus widening the track an additional 7mm and effectively making the wheel ET 42. There is ample clearance between the inner wheel lip and the coilover (about 13mm) and a minimum of 1/4" or greater clearance between the tire and fender liner at all steering angles. Looks like 18x9 ET40 should work based on what I see since the extra 1/2" width should not have an impact as it only stretches the tire an additional 1/4" per side at the bead. Tread width obviously will remain the same.
The Nitto's run pretty tall, I rubbed the front fender liner a bit with them on stock wheels, but only making really sharp turns. Didn't cause any damage (other than making the liner bubble out a little bit). But to be honest, I have not seen a 996 TT at the track without that signature heat bubble on the front fender liner.

Yep, but like I said, it was not a problem for me. The only tire I've had that never rubbed was a 225 Sport Cup. How low is your car? Mine is very low, so pretty much anything rubs that front plastic shroud really sharp turns.
Gt2 ride height. Like I said I've never had any issues with my current set up. It sounds like you had too much caster which normally causes the tire to rub on that bubble on the front fender liner during turns. Did you use adjustable lower control arms with shims?
