Who tuned your A28's? (help me decide)
i have read quite a few threads, and talked to quite a few people thru email and IM about different tuners. With this thread i would like to focus on those that have or have had TIAL A28 Alpha turbos, of any generation or version (although the newer, the more beneficial the info for me) and who did the tuning files for it, and what your thoughts/experiences were. I have spoken to a couple tuners, and they have all been great about possiblly upgrading the turbos.
But now ive decided on sticking with the A28s, so i need to figure out who would be the best to go with for these turbos and my car. Right now i am at a bit of a fork. I have A28s, (that i think im going to keep) with the older EVOMS/GIAC tuning. so my first obvious instinct on a new updated tune would be either EVOMS or GIAC. Im sure it isnt that cut and dry, as ive heard of EPL playing with the A28s also, as well as other tuners. Price isnt so much the biggest issue, because i would probably just get EVOMS and call it good, since it would technically be an "upgrade/update" charge. Im most interested to hear peoples inputs on their specific experiences with the A28's, and who they used, and possibly any suggestions from others that maybe have had the BIGGER ALPHA turbos and their tuners, or even any vendors or tuning companies that may chime in with what they do with these turbos. FYI... my car doesnt run bad. But the general consensus on theses and other forums is that tunes, tuning ideas, and knowledge of cars potentials and limits with a specific setup... change over the course of time. That is the basis for me wanting to update from a many year old file. thanx -Tony |
Protomotive
I just got mine upgraded from k24 to full Protomotive setup with alpha 28's and man what a difference. Todd has got these things tuned to a science. They spool quick 2800-3000 rpm and dont stop pulling all the way through every single gear. He is great at what he does and the process is simple. All you need to do is get the installation, flashing your car is very easy just follow his steps and your good. After your first round of tune you'll need to do some dataloging and send back to him for some fine tunning.
Good luck with the setup keep us up to date on the progress. |

HI,,I just switched my tune over to a Protomotive one.....I was very impressed with him AND his tuning equipmment and his results....Good Luck...:)

I have A28's, a few supporting mods and a protomotive tune through @ BBi. Todd does allow for a few revisions for free which is nice. k16/k24/A28/A30/Ect i'm sure his formula is fairly similar. Can't go wrong with Todd.
Good luck! - David |
another +1 for Proto... thanx. do you happen to have any 60-130 or an other performance times for your Proto A28s?

I suggest maintaining the factory boost controller solenoid if that's an option. It really is a nice safety feature and can and will save your engine if you get bad gas.

What power figures is seen from tuners with compareably modified cars? Switzer quotes 670whp at 1.5 bar!! Other yuners say thats to much and run 1.3 bar and much less power. I am considering using one of the board sponsors to tune my a28 car when its done. Only problem is i live in uk. Would love to see 1.5 bar if its safe though

1.5 bars all day with c16 gas or methanol. Maybe even push it to 1.7bars. Is my understanding.

Yes but what on pump gas?

1.5 bar can be safe on pump as long as you keep timing down low...
