what porsche would you buy as a weekend toy for $50,000 budget?
I assume you're posting this in the 996TT forum for a specific response regarding that model? What type of driving do you like to do, and what is your primary intended use for the car? Do you plan to modify the car at all and, if so, how? What other cars have you owned as yardsticks for comparison?

Long straights = Turbo (996TT) will give you what you want
Mods = Turbo (996TT) will give you cost effective returns
Seeing that your $50k budget would buy a very nice 2001-2003 996TT (probably even a nice X50 equipped car), I'd say it would probably work very well for you. I'd schedule some test drives for different models to be sure, but am pretty confident that the 996TT will score high with you for the reasons you already mentioned. Good luck!
For your budget you could buy a very well modded 996TT. I would look into cars that are already modded so you are not the one to take the hit on all the expensive mods. Look for one with at least coilovers, sways, tune. You could possibly even find one also with a hybrid turbo setup with surporting clutch and supporting fuel upgrades.

By RS do you mean gt3RS? For 50k I would imagine that would be a tough find. Maybe a 996 GT3?
996 GT3 like mine -- you asked about a weekend toy -- the tt's are not quite as visceral (before mods) -- I test drove several examples of both before I bought mine and in the end I am absolutely thrilled with it. I might add that the car is highly collectible and ranks as one of the all time great Porsche's --
If you go to www.total911.com you will see that they have in interactive "challenge" or "face-off" between all the different variations on the 911 through the years and 996 GT3 I am recommending is # seven on this list currently and the tt is #44. All great cars, but they are ranked differently for a reason --

Ferrari of Denver has this 04 GT3 for $57k. Is it worth stretching my budget a bit to consider this one? Any red flags you can see here?
