996 TT vs GT2 tire size question
Hi guys. Quick question. I was wondering if the tire sizes on the GT2 (235/40/18 - front, 315/30/18 - rear) would fit on a 996 TT (225/40/18 - front, 295/30/18 - rear).
I recently installed the Ruf PSS-9 adjustable suspension on my 996 TT and the car has been lowered approx 1.5 inches.
The reason I wanted to make the tire size switch is because I want to change my current Pirellis to the Michelin Pilot Sports but they do not make the Michelins in the right tire sizes for the 996 TT but they do make them for the GT2.
Any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated !!

I have to ask a dumb question. What is this rolling of the fenders? Also I really like the look of the 04 GT2 wheels so I would assume that this would be a problem if I was to put them on my 03 TT, right?

Did you do this with your stock size/offset K58s? Is there any sidewall buldge from running 315s on the 11 inch wheel? Noticeable difference in width?

A 996tt's tires need the same diameter!
People! Don't forget that the front and rear tires need to
have the same rolling diameter (as specified in the tire
specs, not calculated by the 295/35/18 numbers). Otherwise
you're continually stressing the viscous clutch and can burn it
out.
A GT2 can run fronts and rears of differing diameters, we
can't.

If the tire outside diameter on the awd turbo is within five tenths it is fine. I believe the new tires are two to three tenths. The OEM Pirelli and Michelin front and rears have different outside diameters.

No Problem
rodmd,
I am running the Ruf PSS-9 suspension with Michelin Pilot Sport GT2 tires and it is a fine combination. The rolling of fenders is not required and there are no rubbing issues, either.
The biggest difference that I have noticed is the increased force required to break traction on a corner. The turbo really sticks with the GT2 tread width.
From what I understand, the diameter of the Michelin GT2 tires (front to rear) are a closer match than the stock Pirellis, therefore, there is no issue with the AWD.
