What To Do Whilst The Engine's Out?

Thinking about taking my car to the garage to get the engine pulled

What should I do whilst it's there?

I'm thinking......

Clutch
Turbo Inlet Pipes
Welded Coolant Pipes
Injectors

Is there anything else I should do, and can the injectors be done one a car which is otherwise stock

I don't have the funds to do my turbos and everything else right now, but I thought it'd make sense to do the injectors whilst the engine's out if I can do so without having to go all out straight away

These might be worth looking at and shouldn't break the bank:
Plugs/coils, engine/tranny mounts, coolant overflow, coolant lines

Idler pulleys.

The 2nd gear detent by Gbox is a good upgrade and easier with things out.

Also, GT2 clutch conversion is much easier with the motor out and another great upgrade.

I would also replace all the rubber coolant lines on the motor.

Go on vacation. Play some golf. These are good things to do while engine is out.

What does it cost to drop the motor?

5 Bar FPR for turbo upgrade.

Clutch to hold the power you want.

Water pump.

Was talking Chris Green at USP. Said he almost every TT that comes in the transmission mounts are bad. I checked mine...and they are bad. Will replace mine soon.

Maybe the oil pressure sending unit along with all the fore-mentioned components. Especially those coolant fittings and hoses.

Just had mine out DIY, aside from upgrades my list for maint/reliability/future-proofing:

-Coolant Expansion Tank
-Water Pump
-Pin, not weld, glued coolant connections
-Oil Pressure Sending Unit
-Plugs, Coils, Bosch DV's
-All the metal turbo oil feed/return lines (If you ever plan to change your turbo's in the future and they corrode/freeze/strip, it's engine out to replace any one of the 4)
-Motor mounts (I went UMW 964)
-Rubber turbo wastegate vacuum lines
-Trans mount (997)
-5 bar Fuel Pressure Regulator (really a mod, but might as well do it if you plan bigger turbo's/chip...it's relativly cheap)
-New o-rings for the "snap-in" intercooler/coolant lines.

As a mod while the engine is out you might want to consider the GT2 trans mod/conversion. Need to drill the case to move the slave but it can't be done with the engine in. Since you will also need to modify the PS pump, it will already be out of the car during engine removal, saving future time. Also way easier to remove the unused PS pump to trans supply lines when the engine is out. One of my favorite mods so far.

Inspected all of the rubber hoses and chose not to replace them as they were still solid/flexible. Hope to not regret that decision.
