any updates on 315/25/19 tires?
hey guys,
I know a few months ago 315/25/19 tires were out of stock everywhere. Anything change or is this size really getting phased out of production.
On a side note, is 305/30/19 paired with 225/40/19 the next best alternative?
Thanks

According to my conversation with michelin, the entire ps2 is slated to be discontinued in the future; however, the 315 is still a current part at least to 2014. I was on the wait list at tirerack. Just received a set this friday after a two month wait. They were at a different warehouse and tire rack even split the cost on the additional shipping.

I'm thinking of going with 325/30-19 and 245-40-19. Be warned this setup is almost 1.5" bigger in diameter. The front clearance is the biggest issue but I hear that it is possible to get 1" clearance by moving the radiators forward a bit. About 1 hour work at a competent shop.

At least we know they are still being made, albeit in small quantities.

If you look at what Porsche runs OEM on cars, they use:
235/35-19
305/30-19
This is on the 997 Turbo and S, as well as the 997 GT3RS (more info continued below).

I'm basing this off tire sizes Porsche uses OEM on anything after the 996 models. They use the same ratios regardless of whether the car is RWD or AWD. Anything that comes with a 245/325 front/rear has 35/30 aspect ratios. For anything that has a 235/305 front/rear, they have a 35/30 aspect ratio as well.
So the tire sizes Porsche uses across the board in all 997+ cars with 300+ series rears is:
235/35-19 with 305/30-19
or
245/35-19 with 325/30-19
I really want to run the wider tires because I already feel like the 235/305 combo I'm using now doesn't have enough grip for the 600ish HP/TQ I'm running for straight-line acceleration, and I overwhelm the tires in the corners too. However, I'm running Hankook V12 which I won't use again because they just don't have enough grip.
I'm planning to go with the new Michelin Pilot Super Sport this time around based on all the excellent reviews I've been reading about them. Now I just need to figure out what size!

They do carry them. I got mine from Damon....they just are not easily gotten. i had to go with the PS2....which is a downgrade from the Yokos IMHO.

I purchased a set from Discount Tire Direct this morning. They claimed 12 weeks lead time to get them. We'll see what happens. If I end up getting them, I will likely order another set right away. I do like the fact that the Advan Sport has a 265/30 option that will work on a 9.5" front as well as the standard 235/35 option.

The 315 size is still basically impossible to find anywhere. You need to go down to a 305 or up to a 325.

I'm considering going with the larger sizes right now too. Why do you have a 245/40-19 listed though? Shouldn't it be a 245/35-19?

Unless you've converted your 996 to RWD the front to rear ratios you are listing will not work. The fronts need to be equal or slightly larger to preserve proper AWD function and prevent overheating and eventual destruction of the front differential.
There are multiple other threads covering this requirement.
