Updated Headlights
So I have read through the entire thread and I am aware of the difficulties, but I think I can do a better job than that company...
Here's the quandary...what color? My 996t is midnight blue. I am thinking a flat black, and I am going to leave the chrome oval like Steve Jarvis did.
Question for Steve...for the fog lights, do you feel as though it reduced output having it all painted like that?

As I said, I wasn't trying to make my lights look like 997 lights, I just wanted then headlight housing to look up to date.

I don't think you can go wrong either way, but i would probably do black. The Ferrari F360 and Corvette C6 which have body color headlight housings are starting to look a little dated.
If you look at the newer F430, 458 and C7 Corvette, they all have either black or dark grey housings.
I don't believe having the bezel around the fog light helps light output, since it's not reflective and it's a projector beam light.

Guys,
I have received this sneak peak of my lights from the company. They are about to reseal the lights, however I asked if they proactively treat/clean the inside of the lens with PlastX (as recommended by SJ). The company bought a bottle of the Meguiar's product and are going to thoroughly clean the inside surface of the lens before sealing and sending back.
I have to say, although others have had issues, my experience thus far has been great. They are very responsive, will honor any requests (I requested the lights dry for 3 weeks to allow for proper outgassing)... so far so good.
Of course, I will keep the updates coming and send pics when the lights are installed.

I wanted to give one last update on my headlights.
The headlights were completed approximately 1 month ago and I have driven the car frequently (daily for the last 2 weeks).
The car has been washed several times and driven in the rain and I have had no issues with the lights fogging.
It appears this will be a pretty simply DIY project for future 996 owners.
Now that it's all done, I still believe the updated look was well worth it. I just wish I had started out doing it myself.

OK guys, here it is... as you can see from my post (#169), the lights actually look pretty decent. They look decent indoors and indoors only. Here are some pictures of what they look like outside in the sunlight. Long story short... my lights are completely ruined by this company that modifies headlights...
My car is at a very reputable body shop right now and the guy is putting 4 hours of labor into each headlight to fix them. Moral of the story, if you want this done right, do it yourself, or have a really good body shop do it the right way. Do not use this company (cant say the name against forum rules)... if you want to know who to stay away from, PM me.

Sorry guys, I tried imbedding the pics... can someone help me with that? I know they need to be hosted on the web (currently on snapfish), but I need help with attaching as imbedded photos instead of this way...
Steve B, yes your lights look ruined. I don't need to be more descriptive, you can hide a lot of the imperfections by taking a pic. Any updates on this? Did you get them looking perfect yet?
