Can a bad accumulator cause seeping of fluid at the front Clutch Fluid Reservoir?

Or is it only the slave cyl failure that does this? I did a search yesterday and found this post (see post #9) which made me order the accumulator.

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ring-pump.html

But then today I read that if you have leaking at the front reservoir it is the slave and not the accumulator.

I have the following symptoms"
1- hard clutch pedal on start up
2- When I press down the clutch to start the car is goes down further by an inch when the car starts
3- Clutch pedal is inconsistant when driving (sometimes easy sometimes hard to press)
4- Sweating fluid out of the cap at the front reservoir

So can this all be from a bad pressure accumulator or does the fluid at the front mean a bad slave for sure?

Thanks!

Jason

yes, bad for sure. replace both slave/accumulator for stock setup and assisted "feel" or go to the gt2 mod conversion which though possibly costlier and possibly more labor intensive upfront is the preferred method of eliminating this annoying and frequent issue. at least you'll never have an accumulator fail again. i've gone through a few accumulators myself. slaves, less so.. but yours sounds like toast.

looks like a big day for accumulator issues on the 6 https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...r-problem.html

Be careful cleaning up the Pentosin - it's pretty corrosive.

no problem.. replace both simultaneously, and think of it as your "initiation" into the club i would've done the gt2 mod by now myself.. but i actually like the stock setup ( ducking ).. when it works properly

Ya I guess I cant complain seeing as this is the only problem I have had since I bought the car early this summer (knock on wood).

In fact the fluid was always present at the front reservoir and the clutch was always hard on start up right from day one so it was like this when I bought it. It has just developed a bad leak at the accumulator so I am only looking into now as I never knew it was an actual problem before. (thought the reservoir was over full and that these cars had a hard clutch on start-up).
