a taller/longer gear will let let you get to a higher speed in that same gear. same way a taller tire would give you more speed in any gear.
Ahhh yeah many different dialects of the same language, it is amazing we understand anything at all when we speak to each other. When I worked with Honda I always loved trying to communicate with different drivers and engineers, especially when so many of them were not native english speakers. Now throw in my latest Aussie experience; even though they spoke english I many times had no clue what they were talking about!

So how come you went with the OEM main shaft and other OEM components, was it meerly to save cost or was there some other functional reason?

I like OEM quality. The new main shaft is a really nice piece, better gear ratios, stronger gears. 3rd was adressed with a wider gear set. its not a cheap alternative. i have seen gears cheaper and i have seen gears that are more expensive. cheapest way would have been to just replace 3rd gear with an oem sized stronger gear, but i wanted better ratios as well.

I was asking that in terms of, from what I hear, going with the GT gears and billet shaft which are even stronger then the new porsche stuff and there quality is there too, which I will say is sometime hard to find with aftermarket components.

Just for reference , my corvette has a 2.20 first with a 4.11 rear for an effect gear ratio of 6.31. I love the corvette first.

If you used the 2.88 with the TT 3.44 rear the effective ratio is 6.32
Pretty much the same.

Wasnt that a GT gear also?
I didn't think there was to many gear people for our trans?
Thanks

5th and 6th were both done, I was not the one who did that modification, but I do want to take care of 1st through 4th. I know who did the tranny work so I do trust what was done was done right. I have heard the GT gears are very well made but I usually do agree prodigymb. It is usually very hard to compete with factory OEM parts as many aftermarket companies just do not have the reasources to work with that a large OEM has.

Those are great ratios to go to from the factory and I believe in factory hard parts like those..

everyone has their own ideas when it comes to modding and upgrading. 2.88 first would have been even nicer but i think my setup will work, it will definitely be better then stock

Yes we all do, I would be really interested in hearing your thoughs on your gear selection after you get a few miles on it. I am still mentally mulling around my gear selections and it would be nice to get some idea on how you like yours as our ratios are close other then my first idea of a 2.69 first.

When the GT2/GT3 retaining plate gets here I should be back up and running.
