FM Wired Transmitters and 996tt PCM

I am sure this has been covered before - but hopefully there has been some progress and I am wondering what other's experiences have been.

I would like to integrate my iPhone to my 996tt stereo system.
The Denon solution seems a little radical and expensive and I dont need all of the functionality - just want to play music.

It seems like a wired FM transmitter is the best option (right?)
...iSimple seems to have a model with a switch that can turn off the external FM antenna which in theory provides better signal - and a AUX and USB power port (I dont think music can be played thru the USB port)
Is this something that I can install myself (how do I get to it?)

any thoughts, insights, experiences - good and bad... on this project.

Here is what I did.

Didn't order from that seller but its that cable. As long as you have the cdr220 it will plug right in and work. Don't forget to set aux mode in the menu.

I then to go completely wireless added this.

Again, not from that buyer either. It will sync to your Bluetooth and play whatever you play on your phone. I hid it all behind the radio and is completely invisible. FM Transmitter is like listening to AM radio. Don't do it. Better to listen to your engine at that point. Good luck.

I think I have a PCM 2 (not sure if 2.0 or 2.1 or ???) -
I think the solution (short of something really expensive) is a wired FM transmitter.

If the plug in adaptor above works, its offers better fidelity than an FM transmitter. You can also get a cig USB adaptor to keep you IPOD powered.

how hard is it to get to the radio antenna plug on the back of the PCM?
The Best Buy folks will do it - but I am not sure I want them mucking around my tt
