Maybe its due to overproduction, more 01 996TTs were built than 96 and 97 993TTs combined and the 996 TT was built through 05, what a joke.
That is exactly the case... Simple.. Supply and demand...

yep. nothing wrong with that. more people get to enjoy the 996tt than the 993tt. that's a good thing. i'd prob own a 993tt someday too, just to enjoy a more vintage porsche.

in terms of practicality and price-performance, nothing beats a 996tt, especially a modded one.

I've asked before - does any one have the actual annual production numbers for the 993 and 996 TTs?

Just sold mine for $68K and it was clean. I fought with buyers who were finding '01's for $65K. Soft market on 01's right now.

There's a light blue 1989 pre-air bag,pre-ABS, pre power steering " classic 911 " factory slant nose Turbo cabriolet ( like Michael Jordan had ) asking $106K in current Autoweek - about same $ as when sold new .

I like my 996 Turbo 6 speed, but truth be told, if I could have found a good speed yellow 993 Turbo, I would have bought it. I gave up the search after 6 months.

The 993 Turbo has three things going for it that the 996's don't have:

1. You actually have to know how to drive, instead of the wussy PSM that saves all the talentless drivers without any training from sending themselves to the ditch via FedEx as they rightly should have.

2. You actually have to know how to operate the clutch pedal. Gee, what a concept, no tippy magic tronic for the uncoordinated.

3. They didn't produce a gazzilion of them.

that could have something to do with the fact that only 675 factory slant nose's were sold in the US between 87-89, and that # includes cabs and coupes. Probably only a small handfull of them were cabs...

most 'experts' in the sports and exotic car markets say that 996TT prices are driving 993 turbo prices down with them...not crisscrossing... as most have agreed its a #'s game pure and simple...supply and demand. It has NOTHING to do with one car being better or worse than the other in any way.

Ken numbers were close to this for 993TT in North America
96's ~1200
97's~630
turbo S's in 97-98 182 is the number I have heard
I believe there were more 01's than the whole run of 993 TT's (both years 96&97)

You guys are starting to sound like Ferrari owners all worried about resale.

I had a 1997 993 turbo that I bought new for $105,000 drove it for 3 years and 30,000 miles and sold it for $95,000. It had a few added extras like a stereo, GT2 wing, lowering springs but it only lost $10,000 in 3 years and 30,000 miles.

Now would I like the 996tt to do the same? Sure but the facts are I still like the 996tt better and if I only had to chose one it would be the 996tt. Buy what you want, drive it, be happy and shut it about the resale!

I'm selling my 996TT for $39,000.

Ciao
First I must tell you that I had to move to Italy one month ago with my work
and I took the vehicle with me hoping to drive it here as well.
Here I had an unpleasant surprise because the car is an US model and to pay
the registration here in Europe, to pass all the emissions and standards ,
the euro4 thing, and many other would be quite expensive and nobody would do
it. I have tried to sell it locally but it was not succesfully.
That is why I am trying to sell the car back in USA, there will be no
further problems because the car passes US emissions standards and DOT & EPA
as long as it has been purchased in US space.
If interested please reply asap. Shipping takes 4-5 days.
The price is correct. Thank you for your time.

I'm willing to cover the shipping fees due to my location, and you will not
pay extra for it. About the payment, Lufthansa company accepts payments only
via EURO plan system (I'll have to pay in Euros)because it is an european
carrier that is why I will be charged for the cost and I need a sort of a
down payment.
We don't know each other at all and it's normal not to trust one another in
the way two friends would do since we are totally strangers. Here is what I
propose. In order to go further with this deal, I suggest $3000 as a down
payment.
This will make me feel comfortable. I will not ask for money from you
because you haven't seen/ test driven the car yet.
I would prefer the deposit made via Western Union because this is the
fastest way to send money in the world, and we will act like we are using an
escrow service.
To arrange the transfer, you must go in person to a Western Union office and
send the money from your name and address to my name and address. But for
your safety you can make the deposit from your name and address to WHAT NAME
YOU WANT HERE IN ITALY(E.G.:YOUR WIFE'S NAME ,FATHER'S NAME,GRANDFATHER'S
NAME OR WHAT NAME DO YOU WANT)so you can be sure that the funds will stay
with WU until you receive the car(And you can keep the receiver's name if
you want, so I will not be able to make a fake ID to collect the money
because I will not know the recipient's name).
After receiving and inspecting the car,you will wire me the balance, and you
will change the receiver's name at WU so I can collect my money. This seems
the best solution for us cause on one hand I can see you really have the
money and are serious about buying my car, not just a teenager interested in
my car but with no money, and you on the other hand are safe cause I can not
pick up any money since they are not on my name.
RETURN POLICY:
As soon as the car arrives, you will test it and if it does not match 100%
to your expectations, you will return it in max. 10 days since the arrival
date. In this case you will cancel the transfer and you will send me the car
in the same shape you received it. You have to understand that I am putting
my whole trust in you also, and I will need your promise to be a serious
person. If interested and agree with my terms please advice asap because I
have other offers also and need to decide who is the new owner of this
beauty.

Thanks

Once I receive yur funds after you visit your financal institution, I will then proceed to purchase a new vehicle. The modle of such is undetermined at this time.

It is nice doing business with you. I look forward to this transaction!
