Anyone had a Radiator hose do this?

Was working on my car tonight and was checking radiators for leaks and came across this corroded hose? It is the lower hose on the driver side radiator. Obviously the thing has been leaking a bit but I never noticed it! Do I need to replace the rubber hose and the tube it connects to (appears to be plastic?) or just the rubber hose? Are there any other parts reqired for the job besides the hose or tube? Also do I need any special tools for the job? Should I replace any other parts while I'm at it? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Troy

It looks like the foaming is from coolant leaking around the pipe. Why not just try replacing the clamp?

You'd have to be careful not to crack the plastic tube, but how about this?

I figured since the hose is only $18.00 I would just replace both the clamp and hose! Is that an after market clamp? Is that better than the stock one?

If you do the hose you will have to drain and refill, etc. Getting the air out is hard I hear. May just change the clamp first and clean everything up and see if that works, then process to the much harder fix!

I was wondering about that! Is there a DIY on bleeding the air out of the cooling system? I do see your point on the clamp! Even to just replace the clamp doesn't the hose need to come off?

Depends on the type of clamp, but most will come apart and you can put it over the hose and then put the two ends together. If the one on the hose will not come off without the hose - loosen it then cut it off with some wire cutters, etc.

I think I remember an air purge DIY. I'll try to find it.
