(I could be wrong though, this is all just off the top of my head).[/B]
Nope, Z06 uses the same Vietnamese leaf spring suspensions -- with double wishbones.

The corvette suspension is not low tech but High tech in my opinion. The leaf springs are not like the springs in a pick up truck. The are mounted transversely and are of a special composite material. It is weight savings and space savings. The rest of the suspension is standard shocks or even magnetic shocks in conjunction with a double wishbone set up.

It is funny how people just bash just to bash. My C6 rides way better then my 911 and handles just as well. I also happen to like the interior. Sure its not wrapped in leather like my TT but it also cost me $70k less!! And the seat are 1000x better then my TT (I freakin' hate my TT seats).

And as Mana said.. "apparently it works"..... Amen.

And Amen to that Perio. I was never OVERLY impressed with the interior on my C5 or the C6, but I never thought it was as bad as many made it out to be.

Hail to the C6 Z06....it's going to change a lot of minds I think.

I doubt it. People that love driving all kinds of sports cars will dig it, just like any before it. People that hate American sports cars will bash it, just like any before it. Some things never change.

Well, the new Vette is certainly the performance car deal of the century. While I do feel that the ring times arenテつエt truly representative (tuning and testing the car for two weeks and then picking the best time) I also feel that there shouldnテつエt be too much emphasis placed on it. Plasticky interior or not, for $65k you cannot get a better sports car.

While you post has merit, don't you think the others do the same? I'll bet my old Escort that Porsche rents the track for a month, sorts the car out for three weeks and then publishes the best times. Same for Audi, BMW and Mercedes, etc. Certainly nothing unique about what Corvette does.

Well, what AMSテつエ Von Saurma does is get the car, drive it on the track and publish the time. Hardly seems like intense testing to me. What bothers me though is the discrepancy between Chevyテつエs published time and what AMS achieved. Chevy published a time of 7:59 while AMS only got 8:17 (I may be off by a second or two). Thatテつエs what bothers me about the preparations. Porscheテつエs factory and magazine times just donテつエt differ as much, as youテつエll certainly agree. Like I said, however, looking from a purely performance standpoint this wouldnテつエt prevent me from buying the car if I were looking at one.

I highly doubt that's how it works. And if you remember, porsche has already spent a lot of time on the ring w/ their new cars. Chevy only gets out there once. So while porsche is taking test cars on their every few months or so, they probably get more testing done on it then chevy does in the month. So when it comes time to do their official timing, they have plenty of tuning already around the ring.

Why is anyone even using Z06 and Carrera GT or GT2 in the same sentence.......

Why is that Corvettes always want to be better than Porsche's and Not Porsche wanting to be better than Corvettes.

Enough said...........

Just my .02

because a 70K car competing w/ cars twice it's price is impressive, you can't deny that. This isn't a thread about which one you'd rather have, it's a thread about how impressive the new Z06 looks like it's gonna be

I agree. Like I said, itテつエs a damn impressive car, even if it sold for over $100k. At $65k, thereテつエs no question about it.
Regarding the Ring times, AMS takes a totally stock car and puts it to the test. They donテつエt change any settings. As for Porscheテつエs factory times I donテつエt know. Like I said, letテつエs wait for AMS times. Saurma is a very skilled driver who performs well in just about anything he gets his hands on so that will be a good indicator of what the Vette can do out of the box.

Yea, I have a feeling what chevy did was spend a month doing R&D, when they found what their stock Z06 would then be they ran that time. I doubt they took the stock Z06 and then tuned it beyond what the stock one will be, but maybe. So, I was comparing it to porsche spending many days over the course of development of a car at the ring (since it's right there and they use it often, and chevy only gets out once) and then AMS drives what is then the completed model.

I'd be very disapointed in chevy if they indeed hot rodded the car up beyond stock for that run.

don't believe that time was from a production Z06...It's the special light one with more hp that Chevy has no plans of being sold to the public. Next...
