Potential good deal on X50

ebay.com/ebaymotors/02-911-TURBO-COUPE-X50-SUPPLE-6CD-TUBi-H-R-CARBON-FIBER-19s-GOOD-OPTs-RARE-/360698116601?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item53fb4879f9

No relation to seller, just thought this looked like a pretty nice price for an '02 X50. Has some mods too, not sure about whether they're worth anything or not.

I've been a lurker for a while here, and while my budget is closer to the other end of the 30k spectrum for a 996 turbo, I thought that was a solid price for anyone that wanted a non-'01 car. Plus it's OBO, so who knows what one could get away with... =D

For my own education, is there anything you guys see that would turn you off from buying this specific T? I'm not a fan of the time attack wheels (or 19s on a car like this, but that's another story) but that wouldn't make me not pull the trigger if I was searching in this price range.

thanks. Guessing since I don't have enough posts the forum strips the link somehow? It looked fine in the preview.

I wouldn't exactly call that a good deal. A fair deal, maybe. That's a lot of miles for that price, and it doesn't have many options.

SO glad I don't have the plush seat option... those seats look like hell!

Interesting. I'm seeing people ask ~36k (and up) for 01s with ~65k miles on them, most of them stock or with mods that I'd not consider value adds. I figured another few grand for an 02 X50 made it worth looking at for someone.

Out of curiosity, what do you think a good deal would be on A.) this car, and B.) the aforementioned hypothetical 2001 turbo with 65k miles? Assume it's in good driver condition, with the same rough options and nothing standout (no crazy desirable color combo, carbon package, etc).

That seems like a good starting point for negotiations if it's the car you actually want. As to that used car dealer, and this is PURELY MY EXPERIENCE, but when I was shopping for my turbo, I called them on not one but two cars, and each time got very vague and poor response. They just didn't seem interested in selling a car to someone who asked questions. That said, I'm not saying these folks are to be avoided, just be aware if you get the run around. I ended up buying local luckily.

^ thanks for the heads-up, but I think this car is a bit out of my range, unless they *really* want to negotiate.

I'm still curious to see what people think would be a "good" deal on the car I linked, and also what they'd consider a good deal for the ubiquitous silver 01 w/~65k (I'm singling this spec out because it seems like that's what shows up more than anything when you're looking at cars that are within my budget).

I've read that the car was produced in some other color combinations than silver over black and black over black, but that seems to be an internet myth...

If that car sells for under 37 its a good deal. The interior will needs some work, especially the drivers door panel.

As for an 01 with 65k in very good condition, I'd say about 40k would be about right. Anyone looking for a 996TT in the low 30's should consider another platform, unless willing to take one with over 100k miles.

That's a very good deal IMHO, the buyer may sell the tubi muffler and the wheels and buy the oem mufflers and oem wheels (those oem stuff are cheap on ebay) to replace, the swap can easily get over $2000, so the price down to $37995. For a stock 02TT X50 with 65k miles, this should be an attractive price.

Link is gone, so I forget what few options it had. Didn't have Porsche crests in the seat, no navigation, very little carbon fiber (and the steering wheel looked to be faded and had a huge crack in it IIRC.) With 65k, I wouldn't pay more than 35k for that car.

I bought my car last year (silver, black interior) with short shifter, navigation, 6 cd, porsche crests in headrest, carbon shifter and ebrake, carbon steering wheel, aluminum pedals, H&R springs, built in K40 system, clear bra, K16 with 49k on it for $40k. X50 cars similar to mine were going for 1-2k more.

I thought I got a good deal, but it wasn't much better than what others cars were listed for at the time. So if you're finding prices as high as you say with vehicles with that mileage level, the price has gone up on these cars over the last year.

Just as a second opinion.

My car wasn't technically an x50, but it was an 03 41k miles
K24/26 turbos
FVD diverters
FVD filter
5 bar fpr
FVD headers
FVD exhaust with 100 cell cats
Champion rg5 18 in wheels
Bilstein pss9
Brembo 355mm kit all around
FVD shifter
Stage 3 clutch
996 gt2 intercoolers
FVD software
I there is a rear sway bar too
Bose factory system

I paid 42k.
No nav
No crests

I'm quoting asking prices, not transaction as I have no idea what most of these cars will/have sell/sold for. Was your seller asking 40k? I'm just trying to compare apples to apples. FWIW I'm looking to spend closer to 30k for the cars I'm seeing, but I'm not in a hurry and can hold out for a deal. There was an 01 w/67k not too far away from me that sold for 33k, and I probably would have gone for that one if I'd had the time to check it out. it was listed here as well.

I appreciate all the data points from everyone so far. Helps me get a better picture of the market.

Guess the car I linked to sold as well. Figured it would. hopefully the buyer chimes in and lets us know what he/she actually paid!
