Looking for DIY lower control arm replacement
I'm sure it's pretty straight forward but has anybody got a DIY for replacing the front lower control arms. I need to do both as both of the ball joint boots are ripped. Not sure how it happened especially with only 30k on the clock but it did.
Any help would be appreciated as well if anybody knows a cheap vendor that has a set of both. |

I did one side couple weeks back, it's really simple. Do yourself a favor and get these:
Amazon.com: Bondhus 31834 Long Length Star-Tipped L-Wrenches, 8 Piece Set, sizes T9-T40: Home Improvement
To take the balljoint bolt out w/o removing the driveshaft, you'll need the long L torx bits (to keep it from spinning while you're undoing the nut). The ball joint separator tool is a no brainer, can't do it without it. TORQUE SPECS: Thread Tightening torque Nm (ftlb.) I used this for my front control arm replacement. Even though its written for a boxster, our parts are pretty much identical. You don't need to worry about the front axles or anything pertaining to the AWD system.

Thanks cburke that will totally help.
I order some rebuilds from vertex as well, just coincidental that the instructions got them from there as well. $150 after core exchange, plus the ball joint is removable and replaceable with the new arm. I'll report back on the quality. |
