GT2 Front Ducts with Fender Liners vs GT3 Cup Ducts

I looked into this a while ago and still not sure what works best. I have read that using the GT2 front brake ducts with GT2 liners eliminates the low hanging brake duct problem. Does anyone have pics of what this looks like?

Or, GT3 Cup brake ducts which are a direct bolt on.

Not sure which works best but input, part numbers and pics would help.

Well I have spent a long time on both forums and lots of conflicting information. I plugged in the GT3 Cup part numbers that were listed on many posts at Sonnen and they show up as the GT2 ducts. There are no GT3 Cup brake ducts that you can buy from a dealer. Motorsports only. So I am going with the GT2 ducts.

Question is do I need to modify the liner (some say yes, others no) and can these be easily attached and removed (I guess I will find out) because my car is super low and I will lose these driving on the street.

There was a thread on (that other board) on this recently. it seems the cup and gt2 part numbers are/were the same part.... at least that is what i gathered from the discussion. There is the newer cup setup that uses the fog light holes with carbon ducting to the brakes. I assume you are referring to these right?

Suncoast says no cutting on 996 cars as these are from the 996 gt2. 997 cars need a little mod to make them fit. I've seen pics of tweaking the liner and the duct itself.

I have the GT2 fender liners with the large 996 Cup brake ducts on my car. It is a direct plug in. No modifications are needed. In the rear I have the 996 GT2 brake ducts (attached to the LCA) along with 997GT2 air guides (attached to the thrust arm) and a 997 GT2 belly pan which has NACA ducts that direct more air to the center of the rear rotors. The rear ducts and air guides are a direct plug in but the 997 GT2 belly pan required extensive modification of fit. My car is about 1/2" lower than a 996GT2 and the front Cup ducts have probably about 2" of ground clearance. Rear is no prolem. If you track your car than this will give you the best brake cooling but on the street you need to be pretty careful as they will scrape occasionally. Then again if this is for a street car, then there is no reason for the Cup ducts..

Here is a pic of the GT2 fender liners and how the 996 Cup ducts plug right in.

I'll be installing the front ducts when they arrive (GT2). If I need the fender liners I'll order them next. I'll see how the car performs and then decide if I need rears.

Are you (pwdrhound) running PCCB calipers? I had mine blasted and powdercoated yellow as well but after a day at the track the paint was ruined.
