Pirelli 305/25 19's are on!

Some of you may have followed my saga from last weekend:

Anyway, yesterday I had the rears done and the tire shop had quite a time getting the new ones on. After quite a bit of time the job was done and I got to have a limited road test last night. Strangely enough, the Pirelli 305's cover the rim better in width than the 315 Yokos. At least now the tire comes all the way to the outer edge whereas the Yokos were inward about 1/2 an inch. It didn't really get on it as all I had time for was a spin around the block but it certainly felt fine. After a few miles i will pull the rears to check for any negative signs but I think all should be fine. Within a week I should have the fronts on which may make a more noticeable difference in handling during turns.

Glad to hear that they are working out for you. I hope they perform for you as I promised.

I got the fronts put on yesterday and the mounting was pretty smooth as compared to the rears. The slight shimmy I could never seem to elimainate at about 72-75 mph is now gone so I think it was something in the old tire. Ride is good but since I'm keeping pressure up at 40 rear and 35 front it can be jarring over certain bumps. I'm sure my speedo is still off a little but in theory this set up is closer to stock than the previous one. Nice to know I won't be adding as many "false" miles to the odometer as before.

Just curious, why didn't you go with PS2's in 315/25/19?? In regrads to the yokos, they are the least wide of the 315's, as you found out, the pirelli 305's are wider... Although, the PS2 315's would be wider and fit better than the 305 pirellis and the PS2's are a much better tire imo...so.....why the pirelli's?

The PS2 was the most logical choice until I spoke with Damon at TR. No question PS2 is the premier grip tire right now I was willing to give up some grip for longevity and overall manners. Most of my driving won't test the limits of the Pirelli, nevermind the PS2. Even though it's more theoretical using sizing calculators, I do also like the idea of being closer to stock dimensions.
