I completely agree on the front wings. In our case we are trying to vent the trapped air in the wheel well that creates lift. The wheel/tire tuck WAY under the lip when it's on the ground. We run a lot of neg camber for the track.

Got Tires?

Don't laugh but I'm starting to think the RSR 31/71 rears are too small. Next step up is the LMP1 size 37/65.

your car looks amazing. now quit teasing with the one photo. Show us more!:D |
Oh sorry, it refers to the width and overall diameter. 31 = 310 mm wide and 64 = 640 mm in diameter. 31/71 is the size used on the RSR (fronts are 27/65). A 31/71 tire requires a 13" wide rim (18"). The next jump up is to LMP1 spec and that will be a 37/71 and require a 15" wide rim (maybe 14.5"). It's all about contact patch in road racing when you are laying down hp like we will in this turbo. It's kind of a different deal than roll on street racing or drags (straight line, quick races), we are looking for a flat torque curve around 600 or so. Beyond that and the power delivery starts to create problems. Think back to the domination of the 956/962 platforms, there is a reason Porsche stuck with 650 hp from the twin turbo 3.2 liter motors. Over that level and things get unreliable (over an endurance road race) pretty quickly. It also requires Hans Stuck driving to gain the benefit of even marginally more power... :)

Thanks. Complete carbon 997 dash made by Carbon Art. These guys are great and supply all the Grand Am teams, they stay pretty busy as you can imagine with all the banging and bumping in GA. Motec coming to life for the first time. How fitting Frankenstein is alive on Halloween! lol

The whole things weighs something nuts like 12 ounces...we have to run center supports for the plastic windscreen, you never know what could come bouncing through a windshield.

The dash is the bomb. Are you participating in a series?

In my own head I'm going to own the POC GT1. Muhahaha

https://scontent-b-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/...58&oe=52A9DB99 Nice pictures of cars that we know was done as a kit. (the one one BruceM's old car, not sure about the black one) How much are we talking about to get the basic RSR style seen in the picture of the white one above? What am I overlooking? --Body kit: between $3500 (xtreme dimensions/duraflex) and $6000 (Vis) --Wheels/tires $3k+ --Suspension (coilovers, sways, whatever) --Exhaust fabricated to utilize the center exit (YMMV) --Bodywork to get everything cut/fitted/prepped/mounted (???????) --Bodywork to get headlights to mount & anything else needed (no idea what these kits actually "need" done to make work, I just have read big numbers being thrown around) --Paint (no idea, knock on wood) |

While it's not really the purpose of the thread... I gotta ask it anyways: Is there anything that is offered for our cars that is more mild, like the front fender/overfender used on the 997 GT2 RS? (Other than actually having the metal be worked, and then mold the bumper with fiberglass or something)

You're going to be doing all of these from AIR? A.I.R Front Bumper 1" Widers Than Stock A.I.R Front Fenders 1" Wider Than Stock A.I.R Rear Flares 1" Wider Than Stock A.I.R Rocker Panels Air Duct Extensions A.I.R Rear Bumper 2" Wider Than Stock Do you anticipate needing anything else? What are you going to do for the front lip? How are you going to address the additional width of the body in relationship to the wheels? Just wider wheels and lower offsets? |

I thought that this French kit looked pretty good it does come with 997 lights but the flares look nice.

Thanks!!! Looks quite good?! :-) |
Zuluracerx is/was your car at 911 Design in Montclair by any chance?
|
Loren (911 D) took car of my GT3 Cup car and installed the GT3R kit you see in my avatar. My new 911 race car project (the widebody GT2 iteration) is at Vision with Dwain. I might add that both are top notch shops and very knowledgeable at making race cars go seriously fast. John

these widebody cars look really cool

any progress on this? One of the cooler threads on here IMO.
