Here you can order my front 996->997 kit including 30mm wider front fenders for 2950$

Goto http://rpglasfiber.com/
Then search for 8059032

Was anyone lucky enough to get hold of A.I.R..? I´m looking to widen my rear end a bit and their 1 inch back fenders looks nice!

Oh sorry, it refers to the width and overall diameter. 31 = 310 mm wide and 64 = 640 mm in diameter. 31/71 is the size used on the RSR (fronts are 27/65). A 31/71 tire requires a 13" wide rim (18"). The next jump up is to LMP1 spec and that will be a 37/71 and require a 15" wide rim (maybe 14.5"). It's all about contact patch in road racing when you are laying down hp like we will in this turbo. It's kind of a different deal than roll on street racing or drags (straight line, quick races), we are looking for a flat torque curve around 600 or so. Beyond that and the power delivery starts to create problems. Think back to the domination of the 956/962 platforms, there is a reason Porsche stuck with 650 hp from the twin turbo 3.2 liter motors. Over that level and things get unreliable (over an endurance road race) pretty quickly. It also requires Hans Stuck driving to gain the benefit of even marginally more power... :)

Thanks for the explanation. sounds like a lot of fun. back when I was tracking a '95 Nissan gtr (which reminds me a lot of the 996tt) most circuit going examples were also limited to the 600hp range as most optimal for same reasons you mentioned.

mean footprint on your monster.

Let's not let this thread die into the abyss..

HID landing lights, 600,000 candle power each mounted in carbon fiber buckets with RSR clear covers. We plan on running some night events in 2014.

Thanks. Complete carbon 997 dash made by Carbon Art. These guys are great and supply all the Grand Am teams, they stay pretty busy as you can imagine with all the banging and bumping in GA. Motec coming to life for the first time. How fitting Frankenstein is alive on Halloween! lol

The whole things weighs something nuts like 12 ounces...we have to run center supports for the plastic windscreen, you never know what could come bouncing through a windshield.

The dash is the bomb. Are you participating in a series?

Zuluracerx 10-31-2013 07:36 PM
