What's with the rear spotlight thing?

Just found this....what's the point?

are you talking about the rear fog light?

On my '04 TT there is a rear fog light. With headlights on you pull the headlight switch button and the rear fog light comes on. It's there so someone behind you can see you better in the fog.

I use the foglight plenty when I'm driving early mornings from Marin to San Francisco on the Western rural roads.

And before someone complains about the lack of a "spotlight" on their passenger side, please note that in Europe, they're all on the lower left of the car, nothing on the right. In the old days (ca 1983), you used to have to bolt on an external light to be compliant.

On the 996, it's a great FU reward to a tailgater.
