Looking to purchase 996 TT - Carbon ceramic brake question
I found a car locally im interested in buying. However I just noticed it has carbon ceramic brakes! I work with Lambos here and there so I know CCB means $$$ when replacing anything.
Is this the case or more like - how bad is the damage on these cars brakes? And how often are rotors/pads lasting?
Here is the car.

Did a little searching and found what seems to be the same car, sold on here back in 2011 for $50k!

beautiful car and nicely sorted it seems. even with the dlr's lol. but how did it go up in value $5480.00 from the last sale?! it didn;t i would guess and you're right to be concerned about the pccb's. i wouldn't want to have to replace rotors ack. for a street car they're certainly not needed. gl if you grab it. it is a ruf packaged car so thats badass. only thing i see missing is sport seats with painted backs. oh well lol.
negotiate it down and GL!

IMO this company is not one to do business with, my car was disassembled there, sat for years and then they attempted to get money out of me through lawyers. which didn't work and ended up costing them more. i would never buy anything from them.
Doesn't look like a 'real Ruf' to me. Which honestly, I don't even really value anyway. There are better parts combos out there -- especially for the price. If it doesnt have an integrated roll cage, Ruf bodywork, and a Ruf VIN, I'd ignore what sticker is on the back.
Besides:
Proto ECU,
Markski k16 billets 5bar
BBI exhaust?
Maybe it was a Ruf car that was upgraded later. I would treat it as a modded 996TT. It has some nice parts on it!

You'd think that having a proper Ruf treatment would be "enough" and further significant mods would sort of detract a bit. The pedigree would be interesting. Ruf badge, pedals, and floor mats do not a Ruf make.

i thought the "ruf package" was an approximation of an actual "ruf turbor" with similar components and without the ruf provenance eg badging/paper whatever etc.
it does say "ruf package" suggesting a difference.

A real Ruf will have a Ruf vin. This "overpriced" (in my opinion) example has some nice Ruf stuff that will add value to someone will to pay dearly for it. The carbon brakes are the undesirable first gen. Most that have them end up putting iron rotors on and compatible pads. I've heard the PCCBs can be squeaky on the street. Dustless is right and they were something to get excited about when they first became available, but now many view them as a liability rather than an asset.
Thanks for all your insight guys.I decided to pass on this car and went onto my 2nd choice. It is not a turbo but its a 2007 Carrera with a array of nice parts.Hope to get it by the end of the week.
