Spring mod versus coil overs?

Great posting HIX!

Wondering your thoughts on the effects of the HR spring changes vs the full coilover change?

I am just starting to improve my car for track use, funding is always a concern. If I can buy your springs/bearings and get significant improvement that may buy me some time before going for the coil over cost.

Thanks for any advise.

Totally unrelated to your suspension

I saw that your body color is exactly what I want to have mine wrapped with. Is that a wrap, and if so can you tell me which exact film you used and any downsides to doing this? Also, how long have you had it wrapped and how does it compare to the stock paint for gloss, maintenance, etc.
Thanks!

Hi,

great write up. I'm installing these coilovers as well at my car. But I have a question: How were you able to install the new supporting bearing on the front top mount? At my car the top mount seems to be to big for the new bearing...

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best regards

I have the H&R springs and I like them. The ride is comfortable and the handling is just fine. It floats a bit compared to the rigid like suspension most on here prefer, but I prefer it a bit softer. It feels well on the street and on the track. But if you're used to a firm suspension and like that, they are not for you.

^ i agree. i've just gone rwd and i keep expecting to notice something is missing or absent by staying with just lowered on the h&r sport springs. although i realize the geometry of the car changes by eliminating the front thru weight loss etc, but the drop is 1.5 and about perfect. the ride is VERY firm, but i am paired with MO30's and what's not to like? maybe that is the difference from stock dampers..but i'm on fresh blacktop or freeway only. i keep reading of the need for the coilovers but i never hit bumpstops or bottom out?! what am i missing or maybe i'm too slow lol. perhaps ignorance can be blissful. or would i "know" the minute i had some v3's on? who knows...

i do know that just running springs alone on a dd in city driving sucks. on that there should be no debate.

Interested in how you like the ride and handling so far? Is there a huge difference compared to you're "before" with the H&R springs?

Anyone have the KW V1? Please comment

KW has a maximum and minimum for the lower spring collar adjustment that will dictate your

height. Do you remember how you set them up. Did you get an alignment and are your other components like control arms, dog bones, etc stock?

What I'm getting at is how low can you go and still maintain alignment without purchasing expensive adjustable components. Thanks
