996 Turbo Driver-side side mirror not tilting left and right

The passenger side works fine, but the driver side only tilts up and down.

What's the cause and how should I go about fixing this?

Thanks!

Possibly the brackets that attach to the back of the mirror and the motor have broken. You need to have it fixed before you hit a bump or at a high speed and the mirror comes out. The only thing holding it at that time are the wires. Cost you a couple of hundred for parts and labor.

Check the mirror motor also could be defective.

Thanks guys.

Pulled the mirror out. It looks like the motor is the one that isn't moving. The clips int he back look pretty good.

Any other possibilities? Don't want to get a motor and find out it's some other issue.

Test light is a clear handled pointed screwdriver with a light in the handle and a grounding clamp coming out the back. So if there's power in a particular wire/fuse etc the light in the handle will light showing that there is power there.

I took the good motor (passenger side) and installed it on the driver's side, doesn't work. The "bad" motor actually is not broken, it works on the passenger side.

So i can only assume that the wiring is faulty, as the side mirror control works for the passenger side.

I guess if the wiring is broken, I'll have to replace the whole side mirror piece? Or what is there a minimal approach to fix this?

I would start at interior switch to see if there's power if there is work your way towards mirror checking for continued power as you go.

^^Agree. Most likely wiring. Look for continuity of circuit
Pull the door panel, since you are not the original owner, door panel may have been pulled for speaker upgrade or window regulator change and could have pinched a wire on reinstall.

I was wondering if you ever found out what was wrong with your driver's side mirror problem, I have the exact same problem on my 2010 panamera 4s, i did the same as you did and installed the passenger side motor and the same thing happened, was it you wiring harness?
