Any issue adding BMC filter on stock car?

I plan on getting an exhaust, ECU tune and the filter. If I add a filter now is there any harm or benefit?

I ran a BMC for a while, no issues, did not kill my MAFs anyways. But I would not clean and oil it myself, rather toss it and buy new. Got to be careful of over oiling etc.
I don't think it made a difference and I went back to paper.

Don't bother with it. A stock paper filter will flow just as well and filter 1000 times better. Your doing your engine a favor by sticking with a stock paper filter. You will NEVER notice the difference...

You all seem to miss the point of the BMC filter. You buy one and you are done (unlike the environmentally unfriendly paper filter). The BMC flows at least as good (if not better). I have never had a problem with MAF and I have had the same filter for 8 years.

Picked mine up locally. 80 bucks new. My oem one was covered with crap. Drivers side it looked new but I suggest anyone to inspect . Knn is the one that sucks because it comes oily. I would love to see bmc vs oem. Dyno sheet. I'm sure it was proven.

I dynoed a 997.1 Turbo with stock and BMC filters. The BMC showed a gain of 8hp and loss of 1 ft/lb of torque at the wheels. This is the average difference of about 6 pulls, but the results were very consistent. Everything else on the car was stock.
Then we threw an APR tune on the car and ran the same tests again. With the tune, the BMC filter showed a loss of 1.6hp and 13.3 ft/lbs of torque.
I would suggest that if you want the absolute best-performing filter, you need a lot of access to a dyno to figure out what works best with your setup. Your results on a 996T will likely be different as well.

i ran the bmc for a couple years. made more intake noise but no real discernable seat of the pants increase in power. though it might stand to reason that increased intake air might easily translate into *more* power and i do have a modded airbox a la 997t.. looking at the dirty/oiled filter every day was enough to have me go back to the paper mahle. which i can regularly change at about 15 bucks with no concern for what kind of particulates might be getting around the bmc. cos ain't nothing getting around the oem mahle lol

it just ain't worth it imo.
