Protomotive car part III videos

Looks like they had cameras running from their point of view. It was the same evening when we ran the Camaro SS and the single turbo Supra.

I was reading a few posts that may have questioned the validity of running against the supercharged Z06 and the AC Cobra. So, check this out and let me know what you guys think. Unfortunately, I still can't reply to my own posts.

Funny... the Supra guy claims that he lost because the TT had 862hp. Yeah right, like there is a 996TT out there that can put out that much horsepower. After reading CJV and Stephen's posts about trying to break the 700hp barrier 862 seems impossible. Pure bragging rights. "The other day I raced a Turbo Porsche and it was putting out 2000 hp."

Obviously you are not very familiar with Protomotive's capabilities. They were making 700hp bolt on turbo 996TT setups when other tuners couldn't get past 600.

The Knightons build some fast cars. Trust me, I know.

Show me a dyno sheet and I will be a believer. Considering there are a handful of very well respected tuners on this board, it appears that nobody has been able to come near that number even after changing internals, high flow fuel injectors, liquid cooled intercoolers, etc etc. Even Craig tried zero tolerance turbos without success. For argument's sake, let's say that 862hp is the actual number. Why would Protomotive not be published in magazines with their 862hp car? Why would a bunch of "street racers" have posession of the car? I'm sure that 862 hp would be a number that Craig, Buddy, Shank and a few other guys would line up for. I say, bring on the dyno sheet and generate some sales for Protomotive. Without a dyno sheet it's all BS to me.

Do not mistake 862 engine hp vs 862 wheel hp.

The used an engine dyno for the reading, not a wheel dyno:

The numbers are good. The motor with the head and valve work is much like EL750's internals from TTP. They can make this kind of hp at lower boost because of the above work and the turbo's they are using.

I'm sure I'll be running Alex once my motor is finished. Both cars are located in the same geographical area. I know Alex, he is a real competitor. I look foward to it.

What would 862 hp on an engine dyno equate to rwhp on a chassis dyno?

figure roughly a 20% loss through the AWD drivetrain, maybe 15% w/ a GT2

OK, I obviously must have my head up my *** because that's the first I have heard of a 950hp Evo car. Is that a legitimate 1/4 mile run? 11.09s @ 140mph. Didn't Sharky do better than that with a tip?

So then let me modify what I am saying RE: the car in the videos. and why I was suspicious of the 862 number. If you go to Protomotive's website, there is no reference at all to a 862hp 996TT. In fact, there is a dyno sheet showing exactly 862hp for a 3.8L 993TT which is a whole different animal. Again, there is the stupidity involved in "street racing" the supposed 862hp car on the street by a bunch of idiots. Look at the car they took to the shootout. It looked like a POS that was barely finished in time for the shootout. It did well but it essentially looked like a test mule and it had 550hp. So they are going to have a bone stock looking TT out there with 862hp driven by guys that are thrashing the hell out of the motor doing stupid crap like racing 3 lanes wide on the freeway.
