Intro & Performance results in stages

Hi all,

Long time lurker here and finally scooped up a clean 2001 996TT Tiptronic back in May with 36.6k miles. The car was all stock with the exception of H&R springs and 18" HRE 590R wheels.

What I've done:
PPI before purchase of the car.
Boost leaks found & corrected with new misc. hoses & billet DVs.
Had the HRE wheel centers re-finished from gloss black to a satin gunmetal grey & added the traditional colored caps.
New tires, the Pirellis were getting old and noisy.
Front bumperettes removed and rear bumperettes painted.
EPL Flash with supplied plugs and coils.
Speedtech 3.0" catted X-Pipe (sounds AWESOME).

I am always curious as to what performance mods really do to a car so I made several timed 0-60mph & 0-100mph runs in various stages.

Performance results according to the Performance box. All runs done on the same road in similar climate conditions.

Bone stock:
0-60mph: 4.3 seconds
0-100mph: 9.7 seconds

EPL Flash with supplied plugs and coil packs:
0-60mph: 3.9 seconds
0-100mph: 8.8 seconds

Speedtech 3" catted X-Pipe added to the above:
0-60mph: 3.5 seconds
0-100mph: 8.2 seconds.

I was very impressed with the performance from the EPL flash alone. Lots of torque and driveability has improved due to better throttle repsonse and less lag. The exhaust also made a noticeable difference in torque/repsonse and made a bigger improvement then I expected in the 0-60/0-100 times. Here are few pics I snapped over the summer. Will make another thread with sound clips and pics of the Speedtech.

Thanks to reading "how-to" threads on this forum I was able to do the plugs, coil packs and exhaust with ease (first European car). I hope to get it to the 1/4mi track next month so see what the flash/exhaust does against the stock 12.43@113.5 in 100 degree heat.

Thanks!

Paulie: If Marks car will stay running long enough, he will definitely eat it up :D. I am looking forward to seeing him run next month at RPR.. Should be a monster!

Great looking car and outstanding performance results on the exhaust! Love to see our 3" systems making that kind of a difference :-) Enjoy it and stay safe with your new found power...
