996 will win, 68mm vtgs in a small oem 997.1 housing does not have a chance up on top...
if they were in a gt2 turbo thats a different story....
Im assuming its a real garrett non Alpha

There are two other cars, one is a PE750 kit 997 and the other is just on VTG's with some simple bolt ons. Just wondering the outcome. Let me know if that helps. Now they may only be on pump gas too.

I raced a 997tt TIP (not 6speed) using 68mm turbos but with bigger gt2 hotsides too, as Markski said the stock hotside is the biggest problem, even with the bigger turbine housing running big boost will generate a lot of heat and back pressure, running good fuel (e85,racegas or pump+meth) is crucial keeping these turbos somehow efficient...
996tt with meth vs 997tt running pump with and w/o meth...996 using meth and 997 no meth is game over... the 997 gained about 3CL running meth on the same tune and boost (1.55bar @high rev), 997tt without meth and with a pass car did 5.7 100-200;
I was able to keep up with that car @1.45bar on pump+meth and the 997tt running meth too.., using 1.55bar so boost for boost cars will be equal till about 110-120mph(as shifting works better in the 997tt TIP) and than till 150-160mph will gain like 1-2 CL; more boost will generate more CL
