so again stay with the beru 997 coils. at 25k miles on your tuned car? its time for both i bet.

Thank you. "COP" coil on plug. Actually about 6000 miles on tune but no idea what plugs are in there so I am replacing them all w/ coils. My tuner specifically tells me Desno PK20PR-P8 so I'm going w/ those and I'll get the 997 coils 997-602-104-02-m47 iirc. I'll also check for the bracket failure.

Thanks for that clarification. Cops are something I generally try to avoid, unless of course I need them.

As to the coil replacement, given they are relatively inexpensive, you’re wise to do them.
As to plugs, well others seem to have great success with plugs other than Bosch/Beru, I’ve just never seen the point. Pre gapped and good enough for gt2, good enough for my 575+/- whp car.

You *may* have to mess with the heat shield because of the difference in the 997 vs the older 996 and no longer available 996 coils. Someone here showed how they created an indent to have the coil clear the shield because of the longer supplied 997 coil bolt.

I can’t recall which position coil/plug it is, just something to consider.

Happy wrenching!

Finally got tired of 3/4 power with my #1 mis-fire. Changing tappet brackets, plugs, and coils. #1 plug looked terrible, a lot of carbon build up. Piston is dirty w buildup as well. #2 & 3 plugs and pistons look clean. I'll try to upload some photos later. Working passenger side now. If problem persists I'll prob drop the motor to replace injectors and pin coolant lines while I'm at it :-(

great timing on the thread bump. i had a really strange sound @WOT that scared the crap outa me that began during our heavy rains here the other day. it was a "clacking" under load/boost, is the only way i can describe it.

just swapped the plugs today. noise is GONE! a couple of em didnt even need the socket wrench to unthread! they were LOOSE! this was a weird one, as i thought i had a blown turbo.. so, i dodged a BULLET for 25 bucks worth of fr6ldc's!
