I think I'm going to just go ahead and have the front drive pulled so I can go with the same set up. I know how much more I like a taller slick on the race car as compared to the hoosier DOTs. As of yesterday, still no 315/30/18s in the NT-01 anywhere to be found.

You'll like the 305s, especially on a 12" wheel. Much much better than the short 315s...

after lots of back/forth on "best" vs "availability" and ( as if we have much ) "choice" i have opted to re-up on the rears with pirelli p zero asyms.

a $390 p zero that is n4 rated beats an experimental $390 falken 615k anyday in my book. but i'm the guy that had mad respect for my oem pirelli's. i'm sure i'll be fine.

update: there may never be any bfg g-force rivals in 315-30-18 again, so enjoy them while a few of you can.

Finally got to run my BFG's on the track on Saturday at the Streets of Willow. Quick tight turns was challenging compared to R-comps DOT. The BFG's just got over-heated quickly.

Consistently ran ~2.5 seconds slower than R888's. YMMV.

Wow that is a bummer, not many options left for us I dont think and especially not in that price range. Maybe I'll just get the 888s and turn my music up...

yeah, we have basically two types of tire choices. tires that are cheap loud and questionable. or quiet expensive and without question, wear out too fast. pick your poison.

wonder if Michelin has a long back-order on PS2 315's because they are discontinuing and producing a 315' P.S.S. ...?

I think that it's not surprising that the Rivals would be that much slower than a "R" compound. Have you ever had a 200 tread wear street tire as fast as a "R" compound? A Hoosier R6 would be 2.5 seconds faster than the R and a Pirelli or Michelin slick would be that much or faster than the "R" compound. They still might be a good inexpensive choice for a street tire with reasonable grip, of course if they make them again

I was not surprised either about how much slower the BFG's ran.

Saving what little I have left on my two sets of NT-01's for the high speed track in 3 weeks.

well, that's a long time coming! and would be my tire of choice, the PSS in 315 30. running pss on front. it's sticky and cheaper by far than the ps2.

i'm still gonna try ( again ) some p zeros this week.

Hey who are you running with in three weeks? I have some meetings around then, would be cool to drive down and hit a track day. If I can get some tires on the car by then.

I spoke with a rep from Tire Rack yesterday. He said the 315/30/18 BFG Rival S would be available in "late spring" for $357. BFG does not have the Rival S on their site yet, but Tire Rack has many sizes of the regular Rival on closeout.

thats great news.. by then i'll probably have worn out the new pirellis I've just put on. i forgot how tough these p zeros are, tread is DEEP too. much deeper than the ps2's I'm used to.
