The 6's not the spot anymore?

Things look slow on here. Anyone else notice? Topics not getting off the first page in days.. So where is everyone going instead?

maybe people are taking a break. Holiday expenses +tax season+bad weather
I have a 993 and find this forum to be more informative. I'm into all the mods you guys are doing on the big HP cars. learned a lot

blame it on winter

Vantaredoc Jan 22, 2015 06:52 AM

A different kind a of owner/buyer is creeping in with the low price to hp ratio. I have seen it many times a lot of the mods/work people do to these cars is only worthy on a 82 Honda Civic.

That is a slight exaggeration.

You havent reached rock bottom until there are threads about:
- Cut springs
- eBay exhausts from somewhere in SE Asia
- Stance

Or maybe its me..if it is, I apologize.

For some reason I'm a thread killer normally. And I have been posting more, maybe I killed the whole site.

Cars are getting older, many bought 997's and lots of guys on Rennlist and such. Plus winter is here..
Not sure what RMC is saying but if you're implying younger guys are buying these cars and modding them rather then letting them sit in garages and being driven on Sunday than yes I agree. The old farts that had them as garage queens have moved on and younger guys are snatching them up and enjoying them.

rmc1148 Jan 22, 2015 08:51 AM

No young/old guys with little feel for the European sense of modding and esthetics and or wanting/having the money to do so correctly. I have moded cars and see nothing wrong with tastefull done correctly work. As with the old fart comment shows exactly the people I'm talking about. Show me one older Porsche Turbo with homespun work from years past that anyone would want.

LuvPorsche Jan 22, 2015 08:54 AM

You're saying there is guys who buy these cars and cannot really afford them and thus "rice" them out? I do agree.

rmc1148 Jan 22, 2015 09:02 AM

Exactly a spray can and Porsche should rarely be used in the same sentence lol. I know that I tick people off when I say this but mods are like clothes-jewelry= and dark paneling here today gone tomorrow. The only regret in looking back at my auto adventures is not realizing most things are fine the way they are and unless you like paying high insurance save the antics for the track. Most people here and elsewhere get caught up in the hp mines bigger then yours game which is sad because it usually ends up with little more then empty wallets. .

Thats just a matter of taste which is purely subjective. That fall under the 'if I dont agree with it then it is wrong' way of thinking.

Yes, there are always going to be guys who just slap parts on a car and turn it into a mess. But, sometimes you get what we had in the RX7 community, and have extremely technical guys who bring a whole new life to a car.

Without shady tree mechanics, we wouldnt have had
- 3-rotor conversions
- LS1 conversions
- Tubular subframes
- Cobra IRS conversions

I see nothing wrong with people taking chances and finding cheaper solutions for overpriced parts as long as it doesnt have a negative impact on the vehicle's reliability or driveability. Or do you call the guys who are making their own rear dogbones hacks?

rmc1148 Jan 22, 2015 09:13 AM

Yes and I believe the Rx7 deserves better also. Look at the Toyota Supra people will pay a kings ransom for a nice stock car that some idiot didn't turn into the fast and furious. I'm going to lunch now my work is done as people are talking and hopefully listening= I will check back later to see what is being thrown at me next, please no rotten fruit or small animals.
