Put a Deposit on a GT350

I guess I'm in the minority but I have had very few cars that I regret selling. My 1993 Supra and my 1990 VW gli are a couple. You can always pick up another 996tt but personally would stick with what you have.

the mustang has been a disappointment for the last 20 years. My wife had a 07 gt for a while. They do last a long time, but the quality, rattles, materials are so cheap and jank. That being said, I think the new 350 looks great and the motor sounds like it is going to be awesome. But in the end a mustang is a mustang. it a going to be cheap.

Owned a '96 Mustang GT. Never again.
Thinking about buying a new Dodge Challenger Scat Pack: 6.4l V8, 6-speed. I rented a Dodge Charger a few years ago -- for ferrying my Mom and Dad about one day -- and was impressed with the car. I have not yet looked at a Scat Pack example so I might change my mind if I'm not impressed.
Not sure whether I'll keep the Turbo or sell it. The Dodge would be my 3rd car and 3 cars is one car too many I think. If I sell the Turbo I'll probably use the auto auction facility near me.

I know American cars will probably never live up to their European rivals, but it feels patriotic to at least try
Any info on the Auction Company?

Wonder how many R's they'll make ....I think sticker on z28 is $75k but they weren't selling -- was a dealer giving quite a bit off one they had on the lot for a while. I'd imagine the R will be in the 60's. As someone pointed out already the z06 base is $78k. I don't think Ford wants to get near that but if so it'll have to come at dramatically limited production -- far more limited than the boss 302 LS which wasn't too much more than base. If base is 52k I think we will see it around 60k but depending on production markups will be crazy.

It took me a long time to come to terms with that much cash for a car but I needed to try it eventually. So far happy with the Turbo S -- but I'm sure I'll get bored and move on eventually. The handling isn't quite as good as I thought it would have been... Most people say it's a GT car but I don't see it that way. There's always a better use of that money of course but you only live once. Trying to look at it from a total cost of ownership standpoint and I still think I'm better off than a brand new z06 @ $110k ( got a 3 year old model so the depreciation had run its course decently well at that point ).

I am very curious as to what separates the R from the regular GT350. For $20k (as Ford is quoting the price difference) I would expect a lot more than a retuned suspension, carbon wheels, and a few aero bits. And the price difference will be even more if you add back the a/c which is bundled with a better stereo.
I looked at the Z28 but the interior is just to die for (in a bad way). I think the GT350 is much better and I agree the base version may be the ticket. Must wait.

Carbon fiber wheels, carbon ceramic brakes, carbon fiber aero bits, more pricey dampeners -- I still don't think you get to $20,000. So I don't think that will happen, but we'll see.

Still no, real pricing input other than the base price is $52,900.00. They also released the options list which shows the difference between the R an other GT350's. Basically, it is all the carbon bits, breaks, and suspension.

I have read that the suspension is the same but the dampers are retuned as they are magneheological and are not new. I have also read to expect pricing in the low $70k range which is roughly $20k more than a standard GT350. I just think for that premium (which is nearly 20% of the value of the car) you would receive more than a retuned suspension, carbon ceramic brakes (and who really wants these for the track???), carbon wheels, and 2 carbon fiber pieces.
For comparison, the Z07 performance package (including the required aero bits) is $12k and that cars' base price is $25k more than the GT350's. I would think the R would be worth it at around $7k-$10k premium.
I am waiting as I want dedicated track car that can take the abuse and has back seats.

The z28 has carbon ceramics. There isn't even another brake option.
I'm actually not 100% positive the R will have carbon ceramics. The only thing I can think of that would result in a $20k price difference is fords pricing history with the R badge and extremely low production numbers. But even then.... seems a bit crazy.
At the end of the day if they keep low production numbers (300 or so) they will all sell with a $20k price difference but if it's similar to a Laguna Seca run they won't -- the z06 is too close in price at that point.
