Anyone help identify this hose? Why does it keep collapsing?
 

Hi all,

The hose at the top of the pic below was fitted as a replacement to my OEM hose as it kept collapsing. My specialist could not get an OEM hose from Porsche as they are out of stock. So this temporary hose was installed. I need to order one from Germany. Any idea of the part number of the hose? It's the one at the top of the pic below. As you look into the engine bay, it's the hose at the top back of the engine compartment just over slightly to the right.

Any idea why the original kept collapsing? This was happening under any throttle and would cause the engine to cut out. My specialist put it down to the hose losing it's structural rigidity but I'm not convinced. The temporary replacement one in the pic is kinda doing the same thing but to less of an extent because the hose is narrowing where it bends.

Shove a metal pipe piece into the weakened area.

Looks like some kind of oil vent tube. Have you had any oil problems lately (overfill, underfill, etc)?

Could you maybe have an obstruction in one of the other vent lines (numbered 16 in your pic) or the oil res tanks (#8) that's blocking the vacuum and causing this hose to collapse?

I will fit an OEM hose shortly. It seems odd though that the vacuum in the breather system is strong enough to suck the hose to the point that it collapses. I've noticed on a friends 996 turbo that he also has an aftermarket hose fitted in place of the original, although his has even more of a kink in it and doesn't get any hesitation at around 1500rpm like mine. His is mapped though and has K24 turbos etc. so not quite like for like.

I suppose what I'm asking is whether or not it's normal for there to be enough of a vacuum on the breather system to cause a hose to collapse? Or could it be that this is normal and the hose had just lost its rigidity due to oil damaging it or something?

hoses are over 10 yrs old and heat cycled a couple bazillion times. its just time to replace them
