need help won't start
Went to start the car this morning, turned the key started to release the key but it hadn't fired up so I twisted back this all happened fast. it sounded like the starter was spinning and the airpump was on, but when I turned the key back to off they keep going had to disconect the battery to get them to stop even with the key out. Hook the battery back up and its still stuck on
Engine is not turning over. |
Ignition switch?
|
That was my first thought, seems like crazy stuff happens when they go
|
Replace it! Lots of crazy things happen when they go and while there's nothing in them they seem to go often.

Might as well try I think you can buy the Audi/vw part off amazon for like 10 bucks. I had to do mine. It was doing weird stuff.
|
Agree sounds like ignition but I have never seen those issues. Its odd you would hear starter but engine wasn't turning?
|
I'll try it, not the first time I've done it should be quick this time.

crazy electrical stuff happens. like phantom radio on/off, but usually the switch will still function? i also went with the 6 amazon 6$ vw/audi switch.
but this doesnt sound like a switch malfunction at all. |

:confused:Wasn't the switch, found one at NAPA open on a sunday swapped it noise came back on and wouldn't start  Need to determine what is actually stuck on, Is there a way to disable the air pump?
UPDATE: lifted car up to check the starter connections, the post on the small one on the bottom was kinda loose, tightened the nut up but it still wiggles a bit didn't seem right. connected the battery back up and things were normal. Nothing was running, car started and ran fine. Weird, still:confused: the new switch does seem to work better as the old one was showing signs of going out. |
When you tried to start it you said the starter was spinning. Is that right?
