Sam's Billets and otger goodies enroute!!
Had to share my excitement guys! After researching for years I pulled the trigger. It's all enroute from Cali.
1. SAMs billet K16s with actuators 2. Coil packs, plugs, fuel filter 3. 5 bar FPR 4. Sachs Motorsport clutch kit 5. Wagner ICs with hoses Can't wait to start wrenching! |
great upgrade list! man yer gonna feel that stuff :) and sam? well, ya know. what more needs be said. you got deals, I'm sure.
i empathize with your imminent and newfound joy lol |
really to drop in injectors and not a 5 bar. thats a band aid fix and a bad one
|
Thanks guys I'm really looking forward to it. I'm told the 5 bar is fine for my needs. I track once a year maybe, the rest is street.

it is ;)

Brock I am so excited for you. Last time we did the tune my son was just born so two years in the making huh! I will be there for you from A-Z on the install. Don't be shy and text me anytime.
Steve, at this level we decided to stick with a 5 bar. Generally speaking if you try to squeeze too much out of it it's definitely not the right choice. I have literally been doing power kits similar to this air fuel ratio and horsepower for 13 years on these cars. I would never allow one of my customers to put their car in jeopardy. Depends on the tuner. I have the utmost faith in GIAC and their capabilities. The power is tapered in allowing the car to handle fuel delivery. Their tuning on the 996TT is sometimes criticized for how "conservative" it is. But to me it's safe and well done. That is why they are one the tuners have been around the longest. With their later tunes and a proper configuration I assure you the car runs like a beast and there's no worries on safety. Th epower, that is there too! 993-991. Many people know i do work with others as well. Whatever fits the build. Here's a few dynos...one on pump gas and one with race fuel same tune. Joe just did this a few weeks ago. You can see where the car corrects when hundred octane is used just like GIAC said it would due to fuel limit and they run them safe/FAT. Hands-down one of the best pump gas set ups on a budget that I have seen. Contrary to a lot of comments about sub 500rwhp GIAC 996TT's with K24's or hybrids. Brock I guarantee if you Dyno your car the graph will lay right where this car and all the rest do! This is GIAC K16 with bolt-ons vs. my By Design Tial 68mm billets, 3.5 IC's and a 5bar with the next level GIAC tune we did. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.6sp...83bc9c91cf.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.6sp...ad278e1b52.jpg |
Thanks Sam! I have been so pleased with my tune we did a few years ago I can't imagine a second kick in the ponies like before! I will possibly do a turbo swap DIY with pics if possible! Thanks guys!

Sorry for not being clear before. I'ts not the just the cost of injectors. I get that. It's the jump in tuning and MAF set up as well as other hardware to make more power. GIAC moves to the Hitachi after this point. Also you can add inlet pipes, fuel pump, and several other items and get more power. I think B will be happy here. best part is that he can continue from this point if he wants.

exactly, one can keep going ad infinitum to over 1000 hp then ya need all sorts of stuff obviously. but the 5 bar for his current setup will be more than adequate to the task. so it's not a "bandaid" lol, it's a 5 vs a 3.8fpr and will be fine! he's where i'm at, anything more and I definitely need at least 60lb's and larger i/c's/ + whatever etc
but not yet! :) gl brockster, you're gonna have some fun summer blasts, and vastly improved over what you're used to. |
Am I reading the dyno graphs right? It went from 470hp with 93 octane to 560hp on 100 octane? If the jump is actually that high that is pretty cool!

You're setup is almost identical to mine....i even have wagners....fyi you do have to modify the attachment tabs although they say direct fitment
I'm running markski tuning instead of giac though...it's a nice jump from stock k16's. At this point, my "complaint" is I'm out of fuel....even with 5 bar on 93 oct. which makes me wonder how much difference will there be if I had gone injectors...I'm sure Sambo's taking good care of you though |

slippery slope here for sure..
i also started with billet 16s but with 72lbs injectors, Tony @EPL said the 5bar was not needed so never installed it, you may want to think about moving from GIAC. EPL can tune on a MAF with more power no problem, its really finding a tuner you are comfortable with and going from there. before you know it you will be looking at inlet pipes, and 3076s :) |
