Help now with a 911 Turbo purchase Airbag light on

I just flew 700 miles to buy a 2001 911 Turbo. My concern is the Airbag light is on. He has a note from a Porsche dealer that it could be the passenger side seat belt not grounding and a harness? What could this be, and how expensive to fix? Is this a common problem. BTW the Brake light for the low brake pad light is on too.

Probably not a hard fix for the airbag And the brakes...just replace when you can. They are at the wear indicators.

It is possible there is a bad seat belt receptacle that is causing the light. Also, the ground leads for the seat belts can be cleaned with a contact cleaner as they have been noted to have a bit of build up/corrosion over time that will trigger the airbag light. The seat has to be removed to change the receptacle, so you might as well clean up the grounds while you are in there if you go this route.

The airbag light will need to be reset after doing this with either a durametric or PIWIS.

+1 on the seat belt receptacle. classic 996 tt issue. replace and reset with a durametric or a porsche dealership will have to use their diagnostic tool ( pwisss whatever lol ).

its no big deal, just a hassle as you have to have the airbag light "reset" once the belt receptacle is changed out. many of us will have had that issue, i know i have :)

another +1 on the brake pads. change them before you damage either the sensor ( NBD ) or the rotors! very Big deal by comparison !

I think I'd be concerned the owner didn't tell you about this prior to your flight. Was it fully inspected, PPI, by that dealer or just this one issue investigated? Obviously this was known about with enough lead time to get a note from the dealer...

Try unplugging the battery for 10 min. Mine came on the other day as I was moving the seats back and forth. I reset it and it hasn't come back yet. I'm going to try the contact cleaner.
