Do you wave? Do you wave back?
Not bad, just interesting.
What is it about human psychology that it makes you feel good when a complete stranger (albeit one with a shared interest) acknowledges or initiates a wave?

I get waves from time to time. I think it is from serious drivers of P cars. There are so many down here that drive dirty Porsches. Mainly seems to be non 911 type cars. Turbo's I'm always looking for and generally get a wave. What's not to like about acknowledging these beautiful cars.
i got a wave in what we call "rain" out here yesterday from a 991 S? and this guy wanted serious some serious love back. i was too taken aback for response in a timely manner. so was stymied lol. so i owe him one lol.
generally speaking folks up here, they wave you OFF! its not a fraternal thing, its more of a "warning",. and i do that too!

Tried to wave at a guy in a later model Cabrio 4s thing with the top down Monday. I pulled up next to him in heavy traffic and he wouldn't even turn his head! No way he didn't know I was there or coming up alongside with my exhaust and his top down! I wave and give thumbs up to all sorts of nest cars and liked the burgundy wine color of his car but he was eyes glued forward like lasers (shrug)
^^ people are fickle, and given my well earned misanthropic take on most things involving voluntary interaction with others that are unsolicited by me, from other folks? i'll stick to "wave to warn" only.
that is a good deed and may in fact inadvertently slow down idiots that aren't following the "basic speed law" which i take very seriously indeed and ppl on mulholland think they're on the isle of man tt anyway. idiots, i say lol

Speaking of the different types of waves.... Prior to changing my plates with "mom" included, some pcars would wave me to cruise along, race and even to get off the road to talk. Actually, it wasn't limited to pcars. I never did pull off the road for obvious reasons. Since changing my plates, people have been friendlier and I no longer get the negative road behavior from other drivers.
I wave at times. But it seems that people in this area just don't care to do so. Once in a while I'll get a wave but it is rare. Instead I get young bucks in their souped up Chevy's trying to race me up PCH. There is a spot where it opens up before you come into Oxnard and it turns into the freeway and this guy is going behind me along side of me and whatever. I'm talking to my girl and thinking WTF? I'm going 95 just cruising and he is thinking I'm racing him. If that was the case he would have seen my rear end at 150! annoying to say the least.
i waved? ( or lets call it a flaccid thumbs up ) to a jaggoff in a shiny newer cab yesterday cruising topdown on m'holland and got nothing in return. zero, zip, nada. never again! LOL. i'm not sure what came over me, a sudden love of humanity and wanted to share the joy with one of my porsche brethren in the hood. that went well!
moving forward i'll be keeping with my tradition of alerting others ( as they do me ) to smokeys presence, and thats IT! hah!

Don't lose that love for humanity, keep the faith! HaHa, KH
I will wave back if they wave first but I dont think I have ever done it first. Maybe a slight nod if I see them looking at me but thats it.
The "wave" is big in the Corvette world and whenever I drive my RX7 and pass a Corvette I always get a wave. I just laugh in my head and want to yell out "It's not a Corvette!" lol

991 drivers don't get it yet and are just to Yuppie to recognize the brotherhood.
most will sell their cars after its no longer the latest model....
Maybe you should have given the thumb some blue steel..
