Front Plate and NJ DMV/Inspection Woes
 

I live in NJ and purchased my car from a New York dealer. I need to take the car to DMV for Inspection. I replaced the front bumper and am currently without a front plate nor any holes for the bracket. I spoke to the NJ dealership where I have the car serviced and am told that I will most certainly fail inspection w/o a front plate. I obviously don't want to have to drill holes in the bumper and am contemplating putting on the OEM bumper for Inspection. Do any of you have any other less problematic alternatives to recommend to me....any advice would be appreciated. thx

They have this sticky but non-marking stuff that looks like blue Play-doh. Use it to secure the plate/bracket to the front of your existing bumper.

Pickup some 3M double stick tape and stick the license plate bracket to it. Mount the plate to the bracket (in advance).
After inspection, pull it off. If there is any reisdue left over, use WD40 or some other solvent. I think there is a product called GooBeGone or something like that but I have found WD40 works great. Good luck!! NJ sucks!!

Another option that you might try is find a garage that you are (or can be) "friendly" with and see if they would do it for a "premium"

All you need is a strip of velcro across the back of the plate and on the bumper cover. :D
