PS2's unavailable...Any other good options in GT2 sizes?
I run 996 GT2 wheels on my Turbo, 315/30-18 and 235/40-18. I was planning on ordering a new set of PS2's, but TR and any other place I've checked don't seem to have them available. The other 2 options are Pirelli P Zero Rosso and R888's... I have the 888's on my OZ track wheels, they are even louder than they are sticky so those are out.
I know the NT01 is available in these sizes, but may be a bit much for a street tire. What else should I look into? Thanks, Connor |
Falken 615

taking all factors into account i have concluded the p zero is the best tire for the car in gt2 sizes second only to the ps2. plus, they are ( seemingly ) a harder compound and last a bit longer than the ps2. last set of p zero rears i got were about 335 each. can't seem to find a better tire... for the price. fronts about 185 ea. I've given up on searching so continue with the p zero. a bit noisy but tough and reliable. at least i know the tread's not gonna separate.

PZero Rosso, or Falken RT615K...more 'street' vs more 'track'

Any 1st hand experience on the Falkens?

Your local Porsche dealer can obtain them for you.
Thats what I did for a complete set of ps2..and yes 315s too. |
Yes, on this chassis-RT615K and FK453's + Pirelli's + Michelins + Yokohama's + :D

Had same issue, Pirellis are working fine for me.

RT615K is my next choice if available by summer when the fresh set of rears traditionally are installed. can't wait to power slide something different. i will say, the p zero does all it can to keep from "breaking loose" when throttle steering/sliding.
give me a 50% worn set of rear ps2's anyway :) for "fun" that is. not blizzard conditions lol |
I just got a set michelins from Prestige Porsche. Don't go with the Pirellis could not wait to get them off my car.

do not underestimate the n4 rated Pirelli P Zero Rosso would be MY seasoned ( LOL ) advice. I'm on my 3rd set of rears and 2nd set on fronts. Previous 996 TT ( MY 2002 ) had the pirelli as OEM fitment also. it is a bit of a tough compound and not as "soft" a ride as the PS2, but my experience is it is longer lasting, equally sticky and a better bang for the buck...and again, N rated OEM fitment on their NEW cars... still. |

latest Pzero Rosso (black sidewall, no red logo) is pretty amazing in the traction it provides in less than ideal conditions, seemed more durable on track too, massive difference from the old version...I've got both PS2's and Pzero's to compare back to back....
I've gotten my front RT615K's and am awaiting the rears(about a 30day backorder). |
