Talking RSS Tarmac Motor Mounts with Upgraded Tranny mount = Smiles for Miles!

Last weekend I upgraded my old tired 996tt transmission mount to a 997tt mount with window weld in the void areas. The result was much smoother shifting, and much less flex in the drive line with improved handling.

This weekend I upgraded the 996tt hydraulic motor mounts to RSS Tarmac urethane motor mounts, and I could not be more pleased with the results.

Coming from a 911/964 with upgraded suspension, I found the handling of my 996tt a little loose and unpredictable on spirited drives on twisting roads. I can honestly say that by simply replacing the transmission mount and motor mounts the handling is far more tight and predictable, and this is in my opinion a very worthy upgrade. I suspect I may still consider an upgrade of the coil springs and dampers in the future, but just changing the driveline mounts has made a dramatic improvement in both the smoothness of shifting, and handling as well.

I know the photos are pretty lame, but just let me know if there are any questions I can answer.

Cheers, Dave
