strange - more boost @ 90% throttle vs WOT

i have a bunch of mods (listed in sig) but the dealer re-flashed the ecu so i've got a bunch of mods w/ stock programming & adjusted wastegate.

oddly, i went to pass someone the other day and nearly ran them over much more power than i was expecting for partial throttle.

then i began experimenting....

around 2500-3000rpm, if i floor it, i'm limited to .8 bar til 6k rpm where it goes up to 1.0/1.1 bar.

if i press the throttle, say, 90%, i can immediately get up to 1.0-1.2 bar depending on the gear throughout the rpm range.

the difference, obviously, is night & day...

anyone got an explanation? or too many variables? very odd...

At WOT timing is being pulled back. The maps you have now don't work.

Brad Roberts is an unknown quantity at this point
but the dealer re-flashed the ecu
Interesting. Which dealer? Last time I checked we de-soldered the chip, flashed it, and soldered it back into the brain (typically something a dealer wouldnt do)

I do agree with BlackBear about the timing being pulled back.

That as well as open vs closed-loop ECU operation.

this was w/ 100 octane so i wouldn't expect any knock w/ stock programming. timing would affect power, but not boost?

if it was knocking, does the ECU open the wastegates more so the boost tapers off to a point of no knocking?

why would 90% throttle operation not do this? theoretically, you've got enough air to boost to 1.0/1.1 bar; i would expect more knock here given the higher boost (and, thus, expect ecu to do the same as it's doing in WOT if it indeed opening the wastegates.)

ruiner, don't you think 90% throttle & 1.0 bar of boost would put you in open loop?

if anyone has any previous posts or sites that explain the stock programming in detail, please post. i'm trying to understand this thing as much as possible (i'm familiar w/ basic EFI concepts) but sometimes it just seems wacky to me.

(brad, they actually replaced the ecu; i just say re-flash b/c it's generally easier to explain... protomotive just sent the real re-flashed ecu in the mail today - back to being fast

thanks,
chuck
