Wow, that is really impressive. I thought this was going to be an off the shelf wing bolted to a decklid, lol. Any plans to make more of them now that you have all of the templates?
I did a similar approach using my stock deck and fabricating a mount using the hydraulic ram mount point. Not as clean as Sliders but no modification to the deck was done. Two bolts and its off just leaving the ducktail. working on version #2 now.
... yeah, sorry - the pictures are 1920 x 1280. I figured everybody could handle that these days - I could drop it to 1280 if people are having trouble...
no worries i was on my fone. heres a diy i saw at a car show. he used the ram holes to add some more air to the engine bay. so did you just use c/f and resin to hold the plate into the decklid? im guessing the entire lid is fiberglass? im trying to grasp how the uprights are mounted to the decklid and how it holds up under pressure at high speed

Check out starting at picture #27... I made a steel insert for the stock fiberglass deck lid and used CF and epoxy resin to cement it in place. 3 Layers of CF hardens like steel - I used 3 layers on the back and about 5 on top. I then tapped through all of it for the bolts that hold the aluminum upright - That thing is never coming off.

Ha! Funny you should say that... I thought I could do better and I'm 80% through version 2 myself. The initial deck lid and uprights are good enough but I thought I could do better on the wing by changing my approach on a couple of things. I think total time for wing #2 will be about a week but I'm hoping for absolute OEM quality on this one.

Looks awesome. Forgive me for not clicking the link, but are you using inserts in the CF/Glass resin or just screwed the bolt through the resin?

I posted a couple of pictures of car with my new wing and someone asked where I got it and suggested some people may be interested in the process I used to make my wing - so here it is Chris...
I took the measurements from a 997 GT3 RS. I first bought a used 996 turbo deck lid and cut the overhang off where it went over the lights and filled the wing holes. I used 3/16 th aluminum for all metal inserted into the wing as well as the uprights that hold the wing onto the deck lid. I used 1/8 th stainless steel inside the deck lid that I tapped to secure the uprights.
The wing is made of carbon fiber - 4 layers. I first made a form out of wood by starting with a steel rib and copying it to about 100 pieces of wood that I glued together to make the wing with the right profile. The attachment point is aluminum that was attached internally using more CF. The end blades on the wing were started with a piece of Plexiglas that I heated to bend and then covered in CF to get the size I wanted. There is an aluminum rib in the end of the wing that I tapped to allow the end blades to be screwed on.
Definitely removed the carbon fiber from the wood and kept the form for future versions. I didn't weigh it, but I'm sure it's less than 5 pounds. 4 layers of CF and aluminum mounts - there isn't much bulk to it internally.
