"Made in France" cylinder heads

whats the deal with these?
seems that the early heads where made in France, later heads are made in Gernany.
Is there are known weaknesses / problems with the early heads? Any reason to try and source later production heads?

Yes I have one of the really early 996 turbos.
I have not had any problems with the heads, but now doing a rebuild and have the heads off so need to know if I should look for later production heads or put together with my existing ones..

I would call Evoms and ask them about it. I've read that the casting isn't as strong but I don't know.

That sucks then. There are a few single heads on ebay. You might be able to put something together from there. Get a valve job and have them surfaced. Good as new.

Both EVOMS (John) and Protomotive (Todd) told me to not be worried about those heads.
They have used these heads in many builds and not had problems.
So I will just stay with my good old heads..
