Left side of engine won't lower

I'm on a roll today with these help me threads... Since I'm having 3 different issues, I figured 3 separate threads will help future 996tt owners find the answer quicker to the same problems.

Any who, I tried to lower my engine slightly via the engine mounts. I have done this successfully numerous times but for some reason, the left side (driver side) of the engine will not lower. I can completely lower my jack and the right side will lower until it hits the slightly unscrewed engine mount bolt but the left side is just stuck.

Any ideas on what to do to get it unstuck?

I tried starting my car while the left side mount is loose. I figured the engine vibration will get it unstuck but no luck.

Can you physically see that the nut is loose? The engine mount stud might be spinning along with the nut inside the mount and not loosening. Try using an open wrench to check if that’s the case.

Nut and stud are completely removed. Engine is not lowering at all on the left side.

^+1, re-install nuts slightly loose (ie. 1mm slack) before breaking mount free..
if really stuck...could use the torque Porsche gave you

So, I suspect the square motormount portion is binding. I would support the engine and also loosen the top motor mount bolts so you get more side to side movement. Could realistically remove as the engine hangs from them not the upper mount bolts.

^ that is what I did and problem solved. I unbolted the top of the mount and pried it off pretty easily. Engine lowers now easily. Thanks guys for the help.
