Brakes - What Pads / Rotors for Street Driven Car?
Hi All,
I am planning to replace my rotors / pads. Currently running textar pads which are extremely noisy at slow speed stops! Looking for quiet pads...
Car is only street driven so just looking for regular stuff.
Any suggestions on rotor / pad combos?
Also, any suggestions when doing the work for anti squeal purposes? Anti squeal spray / lube?
Thanks!
Mike

If you need to replace rotors, I'd highly recommend going to 350mm rotors with spacers and longer bolts. I have a bunch of them if you decide to do so. Much better braking, pedal feel, and confidence in the brakes.
as for rotors, I typically suggest sebro slotted fronts and centric slotted rears.
pads it depends on if you're going to do any track use or not but for fun street and light track use.
carbotech xp8 or xp10
Pagid rs29
hawk dtc30 front hps race rears (website is a little weird for looking up)

I just replaced my rotors that were too worn to turn down after just 46k miles. I bought 997 rotors and flewis spacers he talked about above. Worked like a charm and the bigger rotors look great. I've yet to drive the car as I am finishing up some suspension work.
I had bought some hawk pads a while back from departing member, nothing to report back yet other than they fit just fine. I used the supplied grease on the back of the pads.

Hi Mike - take a look at the link below for our pads/rotors. As other members have pointed out either Centric or Sebro rotors will work well - we've also had some positive feedback for Zimmermann rotors. As far as brake pads, Hawk HPS - everyone around here seems to love them. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to give us a call at 888-280-7799 and one of our Porsche part specialists will be happy to help you out. Best of luck!

hey pelican, when will.the sebro 350mm slotted rears be available? They finally show up on your site but no price. Ive been sending guys to you for sebro 350mm slotted fronts but to brake performance for centric slotted rears as no slotted rears have been available from you.

no problem. Just appreciate your guys service and would send guys your way if you had them available. At the moment it seems that centric are the only slotted rears available to go with the sebro slotted fronts from you guys.

I'm usually amused when a guy asks what parts they want/need to retain a stock oem replacement for a street driven car and all manner of aftermarket options are offered as viable options. a street car will never need or require or benefit from race pads or slotted rotors. e.g. the street is the STREET.
sometimes oem or its equivalent, is all that is required, and moreover is often optimal.

haha good point.
imo if you have to do rotors anyways, the small increase in cost to go to 350mm is worth in in brake feel and confidence alone. You can get drilled rotors as well. Sebro drilled from pelican are 500 bucks for 350mm. Use those and some hawk hps or ceramic pads and you'll have improved braking and brake feel a long with low dust and noise.
