Battery: OE or aftermarket?

Just wondering what's a good replacement these days? Granted I use a battery tender but my battery is well over 6 years old, so I may be pushing my luck

'02 TT btw.

I went with an interstate battery just like I do on any of my cars. Its been rock solid so far and was priced competitively.

I actually just put an Interstate in my VW. Also heard decent reviews on Optima batteries but doesn't look like they make one for the TT.

I used an Optima 35 model if my memory is correct (75/35 possibly), and made a base from 1/2" polyethylene and mounted the battery to the base and bolted the base to the battery tray. Check GMG I think they have an Optima mount, not sure if it's still available..

Yep. Their upper end batteries were (maybe still are) consumer reports recommended. I have one in my truck and in the turbo. $115 or so.

What brand are they? With the amount of driving I do, most any battery will last over 3 years though so I guess it would come down to competitive price and/or better features (weight, cranking power, etc.).

It's isn't the brand that matters as much as the CCA's. i.e. A Bosch S5 (690) up to a Bosch S6 (850) or equivalent is what you want. But the same in an Interstate battery from an AAA roadside truck will do the same thing. Again it's CCA's that matter. So "any" with CCA from 690 up to 850 CCA rated matters. Not the brand name.

Check out pepboys, they have a 25% coupon online mmj25, with store pickup. Their Bosch agm batteries have a 4 year free replacement. Hard to beat their prices with the coupon.

They are branded under EverStart. They are made by Johnson Controls. Here is what I have in mine:

https://www.walmart.com/ip/EverStart...ze-H6/16782658

I'm not a proponent of using "walmart parts" in a Porsche but at the time the battery was a consumer reports choice. It's worked fine for me the last 2 years in the car and the last 4 in my truck.I killed the interstate that was in my 911tt with a jammed seat fore-aft control. If the car is parked for a week or longer I always have a float charger on it as good habit.

preventatively replaced my GT2's 10 y.o. old Interstate H7(which went into the Boxster) with a Magnapower H6...have sold lots/had great luck with Magnapower(EastPenn brand) but seems to not be well known brand outside of my area

I had an Optima for 2 years, now I have an Odyssey (4 years) - still going strong.
