LAST Wheel Thread PROMISE! ( POLL )

Black centers would look better IMHO.

It would look good, but I think white would be better on a white car.

Dario, haven't people been having problems with HRE's with chrome lips? Also, are those wheels the whole reverse drop center setup that collects water and renders your car undrivable?

Super D 02-15-2006 11:34 AM

Those 940R models are for large cars and SUV's...are you looking for wheels for an SUV or a car?

Those lips are probably polished aluminum like the wheel centers. That's a good thing because they would just need to be polished once in a while for upkeep instead of having to worry about chrome issues over time--which nearly always surface on chromed wheels. I don't have chromes now, mine are polished, but after having chrome wheels in the past (non-HRE) and having prob's, I'm not going chrome again.

I've had HRE's and the water issues but I'm willing to sacrifice for asthetics at the cost of some slow driving in the rain ... Yes these wheels are for SUV's, Sedans, and coupes ... I'm assuming since they start from 20" then they can be made to fit the new TURBO ...

I will NEVER go polished lips again as they are IMPOSSIBLE to keep clean ... I've had chrome on my last two sets of HRE's with no problems and I can wipe them clean with my finger ...

Does anyone know C4S wheel fitments fitted with PCCB's?

Gramicci101 02-15-2006 12:22 PM

Arling said on another thread that a C4S with PCCB's has the same fit as the turbo wheels. If you're looking for specific sizes and backspacing, then no, can't help. Sorry.

I still vote white face on the wheels.

HRE doesnt offer chrome for lips anymore even as an option...at least for now. You could always have them chromed aftermarket.

SHANKENFELTER 02-15-2006 01:27 PM

Ben at WB can do the chrome lip for you, but I would NOT go with WHITE Centers. Thats way too miami, yet 80's. Nastaay (Sorry Orli)

Go with chrome lip, and brushed centers - it will look the classiest with carrera white. (Good choice with the white )

Go with the 948 - not the typical 5 spoke, and not the common multi spoke(sportec, sport techniquie, champion, 543) - just in between.

Yup ... that's what I was worried about ... My ex-girlfriend had a white supra with white wheels when she was 16, it was cute ... she was a chick though and cute's not what I'm lookin for :p

I brought it up the other night with my buddy and he said it would look loke a Tonka car ... whatever that means?

Thanks!

FYI HRE can now do chrome lips again. I think it started again Monday.

Marc 02-15-2006 07:11 PM

Wait until you get the car..and dont do HRE's they are played out already...the wheel seems to look like the 430 wheel and nothing better then stock...

DeeMan007 02-15-2006 11:59 PM

Have you guys seen the new Vellano wheels? I'm not a distributor or anything, but I've heard from the distributor that they are stronger than HREs at about the same weight. Check them out...what do you guys think? www.vellanowheels.com Do you know anyone who has these wheels?

I'm not feeling both choices. IMHO, a bit too busy for the 997 turbo.
