I think Porsche does classify them as classics now. This forum has kind of died when Chuck started banning people so whatever. Everyone is at the facebook group now.

It makes sense to me that the transition to watercooled is the break point between past and present.

Oh, this explains a lot...I've been wondering why it's so awfully quiet and boring here nowadays...

Facebook? Is it something one can eat? 😝

FB is full of you know what, this site is still the best source of knowledge and resources regarding the P cars.

I am actually glad that Chuck started banning people (thanks Chuck!). There were some real id***s and as****es here - and some real id** as****es who did nothing for the forum aside from turning the mood sour.

But I was also wondering the same thing when I came back for the first time in months the other day :-)). After all, the 992 is coming out. Next thing you know, they'll be back to 996

Actually, I believe it is a little used corner of the internet where only un-cool oldtimers hang out (if I am to believe my daughters...)

I don't believe this is the only forum to go cold due to FB pages and groups. It is hard to argue with the FB cost. And honestly here for a while it seemed like every time you would post about a user experience with a product a hand full of paid advertising vendors that frequent here would figuratively f*ck your ears until you purchased their product as opposed to what you posted about. And while that is their advertiser rights here, balancing the enthusiasts atmosphere and helping each other with the vendors is also how you maintain a successful forum community. Because a forum of only paid advertisers is useless. And that is why I post less here. A forum shouldn't feel like walking into a car dealership. Just my .02

I thought the exact same thing lately. It's a little sad that the forums seem to be moving slower and maybe (don't wanna say it) dying out due to the amount of facebook forums for autos. I do like seeing that we all think the same and WE are all still here, so there's that. And it seems activity is up a bit lately.

I always see people talking about facebook car groups but to me they are total trash. Yes they may help local people keep in touch but compared to a dedicated forum their readability is way worse, there is little permanence, you cant ever find anything, etc.
