newbie question about the factory 996TT rear spoiler

when does this thing actually separate and go up? Also, is it ok to keep it up all the time? I noticed after some time ,it goes back down. Is it supposed to do this?

^ What he said. Raises at 75 mph. It's perfectly fine to manually override and keep it up at all times.

does it really make that much of a difference aerodynamically where it goes up & down at certain speeds?

As the adds say "If it stays up for more than 8 hours you need to consult your Doctor" so I called her and she told me to quit bragging!
Jokes asside - it works when it is up and looks great up while parked in Daytona or Sebring, having a beer and shooting the HP bull. GT2 is a fixed "up wing" 24/7 (a little larger too).
